DocumentCloud runs every document you upload through OpenCalais, giving you access to extensive information about the people, places and organizations mentioned in each. Annotate documents to highlight key passages. Use public notes to compose annotations that will be part of your published reporting, and private notes to organize your own thoughts. Every note has a unique URL, so you can point readers right to the passage you want to highlight.

Magellan - 0 views

"Not One, but TWO Synths Magellan comes with two independent synth engines that can run simultaneously. Use one synth for bass or FX, the other for lead or pads. Or couple the synths together to get the full growl of 6 oscillators, 4 filters and 4 LFOs running at the same time! Absolutely NO samples used: only actual, realtime audio synthesis. Oscillator Power Each Magellan synth engine has 3 virtual analog oscillators, with oscs 1 & 2 capable of true PWM wave generation. With the dedicated osc unison module, you can approach "super-wave" territory with ease. In addition, Magellan's FM module is an extra sound generator in itself so that no frequency goes uncharted! Filters Galore Each Magellan synth has two dedicated filter slots able to receive any of the 11 unique filter types. You can run the filters in series, or in parallel and blend them to taste. Each slot has its own ADSR envelope, cutoff, resonance/Q and contour settings, as well as tracking and envelope curve selection. Sequencer Magellan has a built-in polyphonic step sequencer influenced by revered analog boxes. With upto 8 note polyphony, 16 or 32 step programming, pattern bank, settable end step, step skip, note velocity and gate, as well as a performance friendly timelock feature, it is a comprehensive live performance tool. In addition, it has a programmable timeline for composing songs out of sequenced patterns, and a file import/export feature. Arps & Chords Each synth engine comes with its own dedicated, full-featured arpeggiator as well as a chordmaker. Double up on the arps, with 10 algorithms to choose from, as well as octave, repeat and gate settings. Program and then play chords by touching a single key. FX Rack Magellan comes with a comprehensive virtual FX rack that includes a multi-parameter reverb, BPM-syncable stereo delay, phaser, flanger, chorus, waveshaper, bitcrusher, and a sonic expander; all of which is processed in 32-bit floating point, as the rest of the audio. Logic Pro Tutorial :: Playing Melodies w/ Vocal Samples :: Dubspot - YouTube - 0 views

  •
"For more info: http://bit.ly/hnTM7K In this tutorial, producer/DJ and Dubspot Senior Logic Instructor Matt Shadetek shows you how to manipulate, re-pitch, and process vocal samples using Logic Pro 9's ESX24 Sampler and Pitch Correction plug-in. Utilizing one of the vocal samples that comes with Logic, Shadetek slices each individual note of the sample, converts them into a sampler instrument. Shadetek delves into the ESX24 Instrument Editor, in order to re-pitch the vocal samples and make them playable across the keyboard. He then utilizes Logic's Pitch Correction plug-in (similar to Antares Auto-tune), which he uses to refine the pitch of the re-pitched notes. At the end of the tutorial, you should have a strong grasp of how to take a sample and play your own melody with it in Logic's EXS24 sampler."

What is Nodal? Nodal is generative software for composing music, interactive real-time improvisation, and a musical tool for experimentation and fun. Nodal uses a new method for creating and exploring musical patterns, probably unlike anything you've used before. You can play sounds using Nodal's built-in synthesiser or any MIDI compatible hardware or software instrument. Nodal is based around the concept of a user-defined network. The network consists of nodes (musical events) and edges (connections between events). You interactively define the network, which is then automatically traversed by any number of virtual players. Players play their instruments according to the notes specified in each node. The time taken to travel from one node to another is based on the length of the edges that connect the nodes. Nodal allows you to create complex, changing sequences using just a few simple elements. Its unique visual representation allows you to edit and interact with the music generating system as the composition plays. Nodal is compatible with DAW software such as Ableton Live, Logic Studio, Digital Performer and Garage Band. It can transmit and receive MIDI sync. You can edit a network using the mouse and keyboard, and optionally a MIDI keyboard. Nodal recognises and sends notes, sync, continuous controller and pitch bend information. Features simple but powerful interface change your composition while it is playing - great for improvisation and quickly creating new musical ideas compatible with any MIDI synthesiser and major Digital Audio software can run stand alone using the built-in synthesiser live performance tools: trigger complex sequences within the network using any MIDI keyboard or MIDI input device define your own interactive continuous controller curves (e.g. Volume, Pan, Modulation) for greater musical expression built-in examples and tutorial information to get you started and making music quickly

ruipenha. » Instr. A - 0 views

  •
"Instrument A is a composition and performance environment, controllable using only a single-button interface that can be adapted to each user's needs (e.g. adapted mouse, head interface, space bar). After opening the program for the first time, the user can begin a new composition by selecting one of 49 available loops as the basis of his or her composition. This loop can either be heard or silent during the final performance, but it will give each song its bpm and thus cannot be changed afterwards. The user can then add more loops or build new ones using the 105 samples available, through an interface similar to the one developed for Políssonos. After all the loops are laid out, the user can perform the song by triggering and layering different loop combinations and by freely playing the notes within a loop. Each song can be saved for future performances or subsequent compositional work and each performance can be recorded live as an audio file. The sounds for Instument A were selected from samples recorded at Casa da Música, from freesound.org and from Rolf Gehlhaar's personal library "

MelodyCatcher makes it easy to enter a melody (even if you don't know how to play the piano) and search for it on the Internet. To get started, play the wanted melody (click the keys on the piano), listen to it ("Play" button or your space bar), correct it when needed (by deleting notes or dragging them up/down), and search ("Search" button or your enter key).

MIDI YOKE is a MIDI Patch Cable driver. It is a Windows (Versions 3.1x, 95, 98 and ME) multimedia driver. Also available is a driver for Windows NT and 2000 (unfortunately not as robust). MIDI Yoke NT: This driver works in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It is completely different code from the Windows 9x MIDI Yoke driver. It is hard coded to 8 ports and can't be changed. It is not as robust as the Windows 9x driver, is still Beta code and will not be supported -- use at your own risk. MIDI YOKE is used to connect any Windows MIDI Application outputs to any other Applications inputs. The MIDI data stream is passed directly from output to input -- Example: [ Sequencer Out ]==>[ Out MIDI Yoke In ]==>[ In MIDI-OX 32 ] Another: [MIDI Keyboard In]==>[In MIDI-OX Out]==>[Out MIDI Yoke In]==>[In Sequencer] This allows you to connect the MIDI output from one program to the MIDI input of a different program. MIDI Yoke can be configured to provide a varying number of MIDI Ports (from 1 to 16). In addition, each port allows multiple opens of both input and outputs: up to 4 openings per port. This flexibility provides for almost any configuration imaginable. Note: The NT driver is fixed at 3 ports and 3 openings for the moment. There is additional information in the F
