MIDI YOKE is a MIDI Patch Cable driver. It is a Windows (Versions 3.1x, 95, 98 and ME) multimedia driver. Also available is a driver for Windows NT and 2000 (unfortunately not as robust). MIDI Yoke NT: This driver works in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It is completely different code from the Windows 9x MIDI Yoke driver. It is hard coded to 8 ports and can't be changed. It is not as robust as the Windows 9x driver, is still Beta code and will not be supported -- use at your own risk. MIDI YOKE is used to connect any Windows MIDI Application outputs to any other Applications inputs. The MIDI data stream is passed directly from output to input -- Example: [ Sequencer Out ]==>[ Out MIDI Yoke In ]==>[ In MIDI-OX 32 ] Another: [MIDI Keyboard In]==>[In MIDI-OX Out]==>[Out MIDI Yoke In]==>[In Sequencer] This allows you to connect the MIDI output from one program to the MIDI input of a different program. MIDI Yoke can be configured to provide a varying number of MIDI Ports (from 1 to 16). In addition, each port allows multiple opens of both input and outputs: up to 4 openings per port. What is Nodal? Nodal is generative software for composing music, interactive real-time improvisation, and a musical tool for experimentation and fun. Nodal uses a new method for creating and exploring musical patterns, probably unlike anything you've used before. You can play sounds using Nodal's built-in synthesiser or any MIDI compatible hardware or software instrument. Nodal is based around the concept of a user-defined network. midimon is a free command line MIDI monitor for OS X. You can monitor any MIDI device connected to your Mac, or another application's MIDI output by using midimon's virtual mode. midimon should work with any Mac running OS 10.4 or later. farmpad is a free application for OS X which lets you customize how you use your Korg padKontrol MIDI controller. You can use pads as toggles that light up when switched on, the setting buttons can be used as extra switches and triggers, and the settings dial can be used as a rotary encoder. The controls can be customized using config files. A Windows version is planned for the future once the features in the OS X version are complete. farmpad should work with any Mac running OS 10.4 or later.

Rough Rider is a modern compressor with a bit of "vintage" style bite and a uniquely warm sound. Perfect for adding compression effects to your drum buss, it also sounds great with synth bass, clean guitar, and backing vocals. Definitely not an all-purpose compressor, Rough Rider is at its best when used to add pump to rhythmic tracks. Of course, you can use it however you'd like. The Compressor Police aren't gonna come to your house and give you a citation. Slap it on a track and crank some knobs. The front panel layout is done the same as many hardware compressors, so it will be immediately obvious how to use it. A brief overview of the controls: Ratio: The ratio knob is logarithmic in operation. Completely anti-clockwise is 1:1, and completely clockwise is 1:1000. The 12 o'clock position is 1:10, so everything to the left of center is single digits, and everything to the right is "atom bomb squish," essentially. Attack and Release: We left off the actual time values, so you're gonna have to use your ears, like the he-men did it in times of myth. Meter: That honking big dial in the middle of the UI is the gain reduction meter. It basically shows how much compression is occurring. Sensitivity: usually called "threshold" now, but we think "sensitivity" always made more sense. Turn to the right, you get more compression, essentially. Turn it all the way to the right, and you've got a distortion box, the sound of which is tuned by Ratio, Attack, and Release. Makeup: 30 dB of gain to compensate for the attenuation caused by the compressor. Active: From the front panel, this is simply an off/on switch, but if you automate it, strange things happen... Qtractor is an Audio/MIDI multi-track sequencer application written in C++ with the Qt4 framework. Target platform is Linux, where the Jack Audio Connection Kit (JACK) for audio, and the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) for MIDI, are the main infrastructures to evolve as a fairly-featured Linux desktop audio workstation GUI, specially dedicated to the personal home-studio. Qtractor is free, open-source software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 or later.

Políssonos is a loop-based midi sequencer that elicits the relation between the rhythmical division of time and the shapes of polygons. It was developed for the «Music & Mathematics» month, in October 2007, at Casa da Música. A simple midi sequencer at its core, Políssonos is mainly a proposal for a loop orientated alternative to the traditional "piano roll" interface. Políssonos was awarded with an honorable mention at Lomus 2008 - International Music Software Contest.
