Nik Peachey demonstrates a wonderful tool, SafeShare.tv that can be used to crop YouTube videos, stripping ads, and shortening them, to make them more useful for ESL/EFL classes. Nik gives a number of suggestions, with accompanying video examples, and an instructional video of how to use the tool.

The TeachingChannel has some beautiful, professionally edited videos on how to teach different things (not specific to ESL/EFL) - the techniques are what is important. Each video has discussions by the teacher, classroom shots showing the students at work, and excellent Lesson Objective and Questions to Consider in the sidebar. Very valuable for teaching training in techniques, classroom management, and ways to approach subject matter in a student-centered approach. These would all be very adaptable to ESL/EFL environments.

" This is really an eye-catching site with wonderful resources from the BBC laid out with visual links. Too many different ideas to even begin to catalog them. Give it a try. Learnist, the host site, is like Facebook but with a more serious leaning (almost wrote "learning" there...)

Farb Nivi tells how and why Learnist was created. This looks like an education-oriented version of Facebook. Collect, archive, curate your personal learning journey, and teach others about it. Social learning on many levels for "socially-driven lessons."

Wallwisher can be used to post messages to someone or several people, but it can also be used for educational purposes. The page works like a set of sticky notes. In this page, Nik Peachey has asked teachers to collect resources or links to good Web 2.0 tools. It will take some time to go through them all. The disadvantage is that there is no inherent organizational method. New messages pop up wherever, sometimes even over other messages. But it might be great fun to have a class of students or student-teachers try it out and collect resources for you. For example, you could have students look for good Grammar sites on the Web, then have them explore each other's and write "comments" in another Wall wisher post.
