Lesson also shows techniques of classroom management as students participate in the class activities.

Charts demonstrate various content areas and expected depth of knowledge. This is a good blog with many interesting articles.

A collection worth exploring.

This app lets you peek into students' minds as they are in the process of learning a subject. Distribute tests or problems and then see each students' answer real-time. Students can enter text, draw pictures, use math symbols, etc. You score on a slider and they receive instant results. The animation on the sign-up pages gives some examples of each type of student response. The only problem might be that learning really takes place over a long period of time -- you can "know" some things, but not really understand or learn a subject.

Another site where teachers have posted videos of teaching. Very useful for flipped classrooms, though the focus is on maths and sciences.

These parent roadmaps for each grade level also provide three-year snapshots showing how selected standards progress from year to year so that students will be college and career ready upon their graduation from high school." These roadmaps should be very useful for teachers as well as parents. Also available at the site in Spanish. Roadmaps are for math and language arts, K-12.

"A project based learning method is a comprehensive approach to instruction. While Cuisenaire rods are used often for maths, they are also used by teachers of the Silent Way (Gategno). Vance Stevens mentioned on the Webheads list that the rods go for around $70 US, but are available in virtual format at this site. Earl Stevick wrote a classic article on using the rods for the Silent Way, describing how his students created a city of "Islamabad," talking all the while about the city and the things in it. (In Silent Way, students are silent until they are ready to speak, thus replicating some of the natural processes of language acquisition. Enjoy!

"A new study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences addressed this question by conducting the largest and most comprehensive review of the effect of active learning on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Their answer is a resounding yes. According to Scott Freeman, one of the authors of the new study, "The impact of these data should be like the Surgeon General's report on "Smoking and Health" in 1964-they should put to rest any debate about whether active learning is more effective than lecturing."" This is great news for teachers of EFL/ESL also.

"Thinking Blocks is a nice site for elementary and middle school mathematics teachers. Thinking Blocks provides interactive templates in which students use brightly colored blocks to model and solve problems. As students work through the problems they are provided with feedback as to whether or not they are using the correct sequence to solve each problem. There are templates and problems for addition, multiplication, fractions, and ratios. You can also develop your own problems using the modeling tool." T/H to R. Byrne

Math Slicer is like the Ninja Fruit game, so has some kid appeal. You can set speed of problems. For young learners and review. My 8-yr-old grand-daughter enjoys this one.
