The problem of non-access to YouTube for many classrooms around the world is solved by looking to such alternate resources for videos as TeacherTube and Teachers.tv. This blog also links to a page with many other such alternative video sites.

R. Byrne suggests you try Silk, Dropr, and Weebly for creating digital portfolios. I've tried only Weebly, and it seems hard to remove items once you've put them into the template -- or to change templates. But these might be worth a trial. Links to these tools at the blog.

"Socratic Smackdown offers a fun approach to having students practice discussion strategies. Socratic Smackdown is a printable game designed to be played with up to forty students at a time. In the game students are awarded points for using each of six questioning and discussion methods. Students can lose points for interrupting or distracting others." R. Byrne describes the program, with a video tutorial as well. The game includes alignment to Common Core.

This is a short article linking to several educational game-making sites. Creating your own game means targeted practice for your students, but most of the sites also have a bank of games made by other students and teachers. Most are exceedingly simple, but students find them really motivating. And students will learn even more by making their own for self-study or practice with friends.
