This article has a nice video that shows a teacher in class explaining copyright and fair use to students using a document linked from the article. I tend to disagree that teachers making multiple copies for classroom use is a "fair use," however. Always check what the author says, and use Creative Commons if you don't want your ideas ripped off without permission.

PowerPoint, as the presentation makes clear, seems to want you to fail. "Shadow Puppet Edu is a free iPad app that students can use to create audio slideshow videos. The app offers an integrated search tool that students can use to find pictures from the Library of Congress, to search for images from NASA, and to find Creative Commons licensed images from Flickr. Students can also import pictures and videos from the camera roll on their iPads. " R. Byrne's blog also gives directions on how students can use this image search tool integrated with audio-slideshow.

This Google docs page aligns the apps that can be used to address various aspects of Bloom's Taxonomy. The list is regularly updated by the curates. The "How Do You Use It?" column has lots of ideas for teaching, with an emphasis on creativity and content-based learning. Rich resource. "Finding images in the Museum of New Zealand's gallery isn't the most intuitive process. You can enter a keyword to search, but if you're too specific you might not find what you're looking for. For example, enter "fish" and scroll through the results rather than entering "salmon" or "trout" to find images of fish. The other way to search is to open the advanced search settings in which you can choose a collection to browse through."
