Lou was presented with his $2000 award at the NAMES Expo in Detroit April 30th, 2011. He and his wife, June visited the Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad, CA on September 2, 2011 to display and discuss the model for local visitors. In addition to providing real airplanes to high schools and other interested groups, Build A Plane is working with the National Educational Association, the Wathen Foundation, the FAA, NASA and several key aviation and aerospace organizations to create an aviation-based curricula that teaches science, technology, engineering and math. And for groups that don't have the room or the faculty to construct real aircraft, Build A Plane will soon release a software package and lesson guide that will allow kids to build airplanes virtually.
