The book Tops and Bottoms teaches children about the parts of the vegetables that have the food we eat. Some plants the food grows on top of the soil and others grow in the ground below the soil. The story teaches students about knowing your vegetables and how to run a business.
For the book "Founding Brothers."
I loved the story of the duel between Burr and Hamilton and this website told a lot of what the book said in fewer (but less exciting and/or descriptive!) words. Just a snapshot of the story. Also has a couple small pictures.
In doing some research on benefactor Millie Speranza, first female president of a MN bank, I came across this awesome MN state document from 1919. What an awesome tool to compare state government today and in the past. Also, love that her family, Produce Exchange Bank, that grew to support many ongoing charitable gifts, is listed here with less than $5,000 in holdings.
If you are a Catholic School teachers and want to pursue an MAED at St. Kate's, apply for the Millie Speranza fund!
This book is a must have for parents and teachers alike! The author dedicated this book to her daughter that has been diagnosed with ADHD. The challenges of being a child whose life is sometimes so hard and the struggles of a parent trying to make the best out of both positive and not-so-positive moments in daily life are shared. I will admit I had tears when I read it, and I feel in our profession we will deal with children just like this little girl. Most importantly, we will need to find a way to help this child have the best day possible each and every day.
Here's another Teacher's Guide for Omnivore's Dilemma. This one's for the Young Reader's edition. It focuses on the health/science nutrition aspects of the book.
This is a resource geared toward parents. It could be something given to parents hardcopy, suggested reading for parents via the internet, and/or used by the teacher. There are suggestions for books, magazines, activities, etc. as additional resources.
Kristiana, I liked the ideas that this site has for parents, as well as teachers. Very informative and is filled with wonderful ways to guide our children.
The unlikelihood of this sequence of events is simply astounding. What are the odds that a bunch of under-skilled and under-equipped Englishmen should pitch up and find perhaps the most fluent native American speaker of English anywhere on the continent?
