  • he technology integration module is meant for use either after completion of the project-based learning module or with participants who are familiar with project-based learning.     I supervised the implementation of the GenYES program for three middle schools when I was working in the Schenectady CIty School District. The students really liked supporting teachers and some teachers really bought into the program. I believe it is a valuable collaborative program but sustainability, especially if it is grant funded, can be problematic because of the yearly licensing fees. It's been three years since I worked with Dennis Hooper and the program and the fee schedule be have changed. I know they were doing more online lessons, training, etc. I can provide more information to anyone who is interested.

If you've always wanted to collaborate with your history teacher using the Library of Congress (LOC) American Memory Project, but felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to actually develop lesson plans and collect all of the digital material needed, then it's time to revisit the idea of teaching with primary sources.

    It looks like they have done a nice job revamping the "American Memory" website. It is definitely much more user-friendly from previous versions. I highly recommend introducing SS teachers to this amazing tool.

  • The iPad project arose from day-to-day demands within the school. As Head of Computing, a dozen iMacs were fixed in Fraser's classroom, and a dozen MacBooks were available for booking; but with teachers increasingly wanting to provide pupils with web access, pressure and demand grew.
  • Apple's tablet dealt with every problem the school had with the iPod touch: it boasted a decent software keyboard and projector connection, and Apple made office apps available for sale. On importing his own iPad from the US, Fraser was sold: "On the first day, it ran and ran. I couldn't make the battery die, and I realised this alone would transform the technology experience in the classroom."

    Hi everyone, Aviary is an online suite of multimedia programs. They're very similar to Photoshop, Garageband, Illustrator etc, but FREE and WEB-BASED. Basically like Google docs but multimedia creation software. Would be cool for class projects and/or students who want to experiment with media programs but don't have any installed on their computer.

Whether in a one-on-one setting or a setting in which responsibility for teaching is shared among members of a collaborative group, well-planned, well-organized, and well-executed student-student interactions have repeatedly shown positive evidence of student progress and learning This action research project differentiates itself from previous research in several ways because it focuses on motivational and attitudinal outcomes when every student in a classroom of eighth graders serves as a teacher of "new-to-everyone" content for three classes of younger students.
