Sharing our bookmarks with teachers/schools - 3 views

Great point, Rhys. I would say that it's best to keep this site internal for our own team. However, it might make sense to use this site as a model to support the growth of an school wide Diigo group.

    Hi everyone, Aviary is an online suite of multimedia programs. They're very similar to Photoshop, Garageband, Illustrator etc, but FREE and WEB-BASED. Basically like Google docs but multimedia creation software. Would be cool for class projects and/or students who want to experiment with media programs but don't have any installed on their computer.

    Replacement for Kickyoutube.com We need to try this from within the DOE proxy and find out if we can copy URLs of youtube videos from a Google search index and paste them into here to download.  That would be nice.

    Yeah -- I tried both of these options and can't get them to work. The proxy still picks up the words "youtube" in the URL and blocks it "Reason: The Websense category "Youtube and video Google" is filtered.". So they'll still need to download from home.

  • Always run through a technology lesson before presenting it to the class -- and always have a back-up lesson prepared in case the technology fails.
  • Type directions for frequently used computer operations -- opening programs, inserting clip art, printing documents, and so on -- on index cards, laminate them, and connect them with a circle ring. Keep a set next to each computer.
  • When working on lengthy technology projects, print out step-by-step instructions. Include some that say "Save your work; do not go any further until you help your neighbors reach this point."

  • If you're a language arts or foreign language teacher using Microsoft Word, teach your students how to use the Text to Table feature.
