The existence of these buildings in our cultural landscape (one of our geography themes) suggests that our society is partly driven by consumerism. I believe that the US would be considered a stage 5 country according Rostow's economic development theory due to our nation's ability to produce and consume material goods. These distribution centers also suggest that our globalized society (another theme!) values time and money; many business owners and consumers want their products in an instant.
