I'm not surprised that these workers go on so many strikes, considering the poor working conditions they are put in.

This is an example of globalization because these brands are getting involved in an issue that is outside of their borders. Companies like Adidas are not stationed in Cambodia, but are becoming increasingly involved in the issues. This breaking down of the barriers is an example of globalization

  • Low wages and an abundant workforce, powered mainly by the country's rural population, have drawn major clothing brand names like GAP, H&M, Nike and Puma to Cambodia. Today, the industry is a $5bn-a-year business with almost 550 factories, mostly owned by Taiwanese, Korean, Chinese, Hong Kong and Singaporean companies.

The most US immigrants were tallied between 1994 and 1997, as well as between 2006 and 2009. One could infer that this is because of people looking for economic advancement. The immigration and number of immigrants becoming US citizens was at an all time low between 1946 and 1955, most likely because of World War 2. Ever since the big rise in 1994, the numbers have stayed steady above 375,000 people becoming US citizens.

It's not surprising that Texas, California, and Florida have the most immigrants. California and Texas bring in people emigrating from Mexico. Florida attracts emigrants from Cuba because it is close to Cuba. The fastest growing immigrant populations come on the southeast portion of the US, in states like Georgia and North Carolina. Nebraska has a fast growing population of immigrants, which is surprising because it is in the center of the US, which traditionally doesn't bring in many immigrants.
