Scientists reverse ageing in mammals and predict human trials within 10 years - 16 views

  •
"Using a new technique which takes adult cells back to their embryonic form, US researchers at the Salk Institute in California, showed it was possible to reverse ageing in mice, allowing the animals to not only look younger, but live for 30 per cent longer."
  • ...3 more comments...
  •
I don't know how I feel about this, I think scientist are super smart people but there not using there knowledge to the best of there abilities... I personally find making animals live longer and possibly in the future creating a "medicine" or treatment to transform adult cells back to there embryonic form disturbing. It will probably cost a whole lot of money to. Its awesome how far they have come, but its weird when you mess with the life span of animals... it could also mess with natural selection.
  •
I think that it's amazing that science has come this far and they might be able to do this, but I don't think that we should reverse aging because we don't know the side effects on humans. I think they should just know they can do it but not use it because it could be harmful.
  •
"The breakthrough could also help people stay healthier for longer. The ageing population means that the risk of developing age-related diseases, such as dementia, cancer and heart disease also rises. But if the body could be kept younger for longer then it could prevent many deadly diseases for decades." It has a lot of pros and cons to this i think they shouldn't mess with the life span of make cells younger because that means there will be more people and the world could come over populated. But living longer would help a lot because you will learn more and be able to educate young people with better knowledge
  •
I think it's really good science has gotten so far that it is today because it helps us learn new things and better things and I think it will definitely keep advancing in the future.
  •
This could help millions of people on earth. If the body can stay younger for longer it decreases the chances of ageing related diseases.

he was only defending his religion and his believe just like they were and he hoped they could've seen it it too
  •
Despite his religious beliefs no body should have the right to discriminate against customers based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. If the situation were reversed I am positive he would be outraged that someone discriminated against him based on his religious beliefs. He is using the excuse of "standing up for his religious beliefs" to hide his hateful homophobia.
  •
I think gay people can get wedding cakes, they just wants to do usual wedding system.
  •
I think that as the owner of the bakery, he has the right to serve whoever he would like, it is ridiculous that some people would go as far as to sue someone for a stupid cake, grow up and get a life.Stop victimizing yourselves.
  •
I feel that the business owner can choose not give them the cake. A business has "the right to refuse service to anyone". Besides, its not like that business is the only place they can get their wedding cake.
  •
As the owner of the shop he should have the ability to refuse service to someone if their request goes against his beliefs, also the couple instead of just going to another place to get a cake and not causing all these problems decided to make it a big deal wasting time and money for both parties. Both parties involved are in the wrong
  •
    Agreed Aaron
  •
I can see where both sides are coming from. But any business has the right to refuse to serve anyone they feel like. People may see it as wrong but any business can do this.
  •
Nobody should be discriminated against, but with our first amendment right says he legal does not have. "congress shall make no law respecting religion an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
  •
I wonder what is going to happen next.
  •
I agree that he does have the right to deny service to people and it seems he was very polite about, even if I don't personally agree with it I still think he shouldn't be sued. Although I do find it interesting how in this article the couple didn't have any quotes or anything.
  •
To clarify, this article published in USToday was an editorial written BY the baker in this case to give his side. Also a good video with both sides explaining their views https://goo.gl/73fXsW Although I didn't find an article written by the couple, here is another NYTimes story which has some of the legal issues explained from their side. https://goo.gl/sAacw4

Things Will Get Better. Seriously. - 26 views

  •
Personally, I think every day is a step forward in going back to our normal lives. We should be more hopeful and optimistic.
  • ...20 more comments...
  •
I think that we are going in the right direction more people are following mask rules. Of course some people will not but that is to be expected.
  •
I feel like that it is true that things are getting better, but we can't forget the HOW of how they're getting better. We need to continue following guidelines and wearing masks so that we can get back to normal.
  •
I think things will eventually get better but people have to be patient and do the things that they need to do.
  •
I think things are slowly getting better. We just need to be more patient.
  •
I agree that things are getting better. There's also an issue with too many people panicking making the situation seem worse than it is at times.
  •
I think things are slowly getting better but it is gonna take time and patience for everything to be fully normal again.
  •
Actually, I think is not, the coronavirus come to stay, and am pretty sure that Joe Biden is going to win,and he will change all the laws we know and been for almost all the time, and we have to be prepared because this year would be a hard year.
  •
I think things are really tough right now, but, I think things have gotten a little bit better. I think that everyone just needs to take the right precautions so we can go back to how things were.
  •
I think every day is a step forward in going back to our normal lives. We should be more hopeful and optimistic.
  •
I think that times right now can be scary and worrisome, but I do agree that we need to be more hopeful and optimistic for the future.
  •
I think things will also definitely get better. We all had to face issues in 2020 but we needed them to happen to learn and grow. I feel we are much stronger going into 2021 with everything that happened.
  •
I think this will end up being a tough change before things get better
  •
I think that even though covid has caused a lot of devastation it's also will lead to a lot of advancements that will help us in the following years. If we follow the guidelines and get through the next few months I think that things will get better.
  •
I think that thing will get better as well and hopefully it does so that things can go back to normal and so we can feel safe again and live our lives more freely.
  •
I think we can solve covid, it will become something like the flu so all we have to do is vaccinate each year. I think it will get better in the future.
  •
I feel like things will stay in the same state for a while. If people would learn to get a long and not make everything controversial we will eventually move forward and have a better society. But if people keep judging and hating on people because of their beliefs things will continue to go downhill.
  •
With masks now seen as a political statement and the many people who are not going to get the vaccine, I am very pessimistic about COVID going away as soon as people want it. With President Biden's new plan we should have enough vaccines to get everyone in America vaccinated. But from what I've seen there are just too many people who don't wear masks and won't get the vaccine.
  •
I don't think things will get better for a while since we have covid and other bad things going on
  •
Just because some restrictions are being lifted, it doesn't mean that things are getting better. By lifting these restrictions in restaurants, movie theatres, etc. we are actually making covid cases go up, ultimately making things worse.
  •
I think that things will in time get better, but it will defiantly take some time. Simply because no one was really ready for this pandemic to hit and so people who were struggling before are struggling worse. My hope is once the vaccine is widely rolled out things will really start up again.
  •
I think that we need to ease back into "normal" and this is still very far. People shoulnd't just believe that since things are starting to get better that they are.
  •
Yeah things will get better but if people want it to get better quicker they should listen and get vaccinated, the covid vaccine has proven that it is safe and works.

Should people pump gas into plastic bags during the fuel shortage? Please don't, officials warni - 16 views

  •
It amazes me that people would even think this is a good idea. What are your thoughts?
  • ...13 more comments...
  •
People should definitely not pump gas into plastic bags or any container that is not meant for gas. My main thought is that people shouldn't take more gasoline than they truly need. People stalking up on gas is just going to make the shortage worse than it already is.
  •
people hoarding gas in this situation only worsens the situation in a fuel shortage when you take more than you need you're just taking a conscious decision to disadvantage other people who wouldn't be able to get gas.
  •
I´m not surprised by this at this point. I had a gas can spill over in my car and I couldn't breathe when I was driving so I think it´s a hazard that so many people are driving around with bags of gas in their trunk that I bet not only leak but the gas probably destroys the plastic causing more leaks. Theoretically, you can ruin the gas this way not only by spilling it but by the plastic infecting it. It´s also just a bad idea in general to hoard gas because if it runs out at a slow pace the more likely there will be time to refill the stations.
  •
People need to stop putting gasoline into plastic bags because it's only causing more contamination to the planet. I think people instead should try to calm down and we try to figure out what to do about the fuel shortage.
  •
I don't think people realize that the gasoline will burn the plastic bags so you're pretty much wasting your money by the time you get home from the gas station.
  •
I feel like just because something became more expensive, doesn't mean you can get it while it is "cheaper" excessively.
  •
This is crazy to think that people actually do that and think that it's a good idea. Fighting to get to the gas first also isn't going to help, it will just start a craze and everyone going for gas will cause the prices to rise even more.
  •
It amazes me that people would even think this is a good idea and even try putting gas in a plastic bag.
  •
I feel like this is wrong and not even a safe, smart, efficient way to go about collecting fuel for yourself. And the people that are taking more than they need and know it are completely wrong, there are people who rely on that and being selfish is just ridiculous for them.
  •
I feel like this is just unsafe and not smart. If the bag broke they would spill everywhere, wasting more gas. Also, if there is gas in bags you're being selfish and could potentially put yourself in danger.
  •
What no who comes up with these ideas
  •
I thought this was dumb because they were scared of a shortage but like stocking up with gas would only be making it worse because they are helping the storage.
  •
This is not only idiotic but unsafe as well for so many obvious reasons. People scrambling and trying to hoard gas is only going to make this 'shortage' worse.
  •
This one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while. Why would anyone even think to do this? First off it's unsafe and hazardous and second just plain dumb. People need to not be greedy and just calm down with trying to hoard gas.
  •
What? No way. Not only is that a selfish thing to do, but it's dangerous as well. This could be like the toilet paper incident from the beginning of last year but for southerners.

I think that the cases are going to keep going up. People are still going to get together for Christmas and thanksgiving and it is going to go way up.
  •
Cases are going to keep going up over the holidays.
  •
people are still getting together in big groups for the holidays and the number of cases is going to rise more and more.
  •
I'm sure no matter how you look at it, the cases will drastically go up in December. Especially since Christmas is rolling around, we saw how many families and people still gathered together for Thanksgiving. It's not going to be any better for Christmas.
  •
This is just going to get worse after black friday if nothing changes.
  •
thanksgiving and christmas are both holidays that are meant to be spent with your families so there was already no doubt that cases were going to go up. and same goes for black friday, you're shopping at multiple different stores in the span of two or three days
  •
Many people are spending time with their families around this time so there was no doubt that cases would have gone up. I'm just surprised they went up so drastically and in such a short period.
  •
we all suspected the rate of infection would go up during the holidays. meeting with people from all over the country definitely increases the amount of exposure a family can receive. people can choose to connect virtually instead of in person. it's not the same, but it decreases the exposure

Reynolds: New Iowa COVID-19 restrictions start at midnight - 9 views

  •
I think this is for the best. The rising in Covid cases in Iowas and the midwest alone is ridiculous. I believe that these restrictions are for the betterment of getting the virus under control. Everyone needs to follow this limitation if we ever want to better next year. From the looks of it, this pandemic might continue for more than a year if we don't abide by the rules they are giving to help us.
  • ...4 more comments...
  •
I think that it's good that we got new restrictions, but I don't think people will follow them for very long.
  •
I think it is good there are more restrictions being put in place, but I don't think it will help anyone, because people are still going to big gatherings.
  •
I think the new regulations needed to be put into place to help decrease the covid cases. I think that the governor was justified for wanting to put a mask mandate in. People in Iowa were not being and so I feel that now was a good time to put restrictions in.
  •
This is definitely for the best, cases are rising quickly and people weren't taking it as seriously as before. I hope people will do these things to save not only themself, but other people as well.
  •
hopefully, this helps the cases go down
  •
I feel we need these new restrictions I think they are helpful and now people might take it more seriously

Kansas teen won't apologize to governor's office for Twitter post - CNN.com - 26 views

  •
updated 1:49 AM EST, Mon November 28, 2011 (CNN) -- A high school senior, who faces a Monday morning deadline to apologize to Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback for a disparaging tweet, has said she will not write the apology letter.

    Good story
  •
I wouldn't apologize either, i think she's doing the right thing.
  •
Personally, I don't think he should be forced to apologize. Yes, his comments were hurtful, but as a public political figure you have to expect these kinds of negative comments. Plus, like the last line of the article said "the governor of Kansas has more important thing to worry about."
  •
    very intristing
  •
It wasn't meant for anybody but her friends, it was simply an accident. They shouldn't be so worried about it but she is right about freedom of speech. I wonder what's going to be done about it.
  •
I think she should at least apologize. Although free speech is an unalienable right, everyone should still share opinions in a respectful manner.
  •
    Interesting story.
  •
I like the story, its very interesting that the governor took the twitter post from the teenager to heart and requires an apology letter to be productive and move on, he should be focused on more important things.
  •
Not gonna lie, I've seen far worse things on Twitter.
  •
I find this story very interesting, I do agree that we have freedom of speech. However lying is not in our Constitution. There are multiple worse things that are posted on Facebook, and Twitter.
  •
When it takes a apology letter is needed to work with the gov then they need some one new to take that office. If it was his own kid then it is understandable. but when he does not know them then they shouldn't bother him as much as they have. and it is true that twitter holds many things that are far worse that deal with the gov't.
  •
Lots of comments on this story... looks like the Governor ended up making the apology... here is a followup article http://goo.gl/0IlO1
  •
The girl was at no fault, even though she did not actually do the things she said in the tweet. Hundreds of millions of posts about politicians are posted every. If all of the politicians took the things said to heart the government would be in ever deeper trouble than they are now.
  •
She should be able to say what she wants. Freedom of speech
  •
yeah, she should have used her words more wisely, but freedom of speech is a very important law as long as it is not abused. I'm glad everything worked out, and the gov. corrected himself.
  •
that girl was a meanie bo-beanie
  •
She should have the freedom to voice her opinion however she wants
  •
Teenagers these days have no respect for adults and Authority.
  •
at least she was voicing her opinion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  •
she shouldn't even have to apologize for anything like freedom of expression so she has all right to post what ever she wants on twitter isn't that what it was made for to post things your thinking of or your opinion on something

Why Wal-Mart workers are striking on Black Friday - 0 views

  •
"Jeff Landry, an employee in Sapulpa, Okla., plans to join the protest. He works from 4 to 9 p.m. after attending school all day. When he was scheduled for a shift during class, Landry complained. He says his managers responded by cutting his hours from 40 to below 30 a week. This meant that Landry was no longer eligible for health care, since Wal-Mart requires workers to work an average of 30 hours per week to get benefits. "They tried all these tactics to get rid of me," he said."

Wow this is crazy! I would quit!
  •
    Yeah it sounds crazy!
  •
protesting is a legal rght given to any united states citizen as long as they do it legally
  •
I agree partially with what the workers are striking for because Walmart is a crazy place every single day, especially around the holiday season. However, I do not think they need to demand better pay or more stable hours. Their average pay is 5 whole dollars above federal minimum wage, and there are plenty of people out there who work a different job with a lot more hours at irregular times for minimum wage and no benefits. Why should Walmart be any different? I feel as if they are striking for something they will not get.
  •
protesting is legal only if its non-violent so I think the had a right to go on strike.
  •
    Civil Disobedience!

The impact of $9 minimum wage, Is it Good or Bad? - 2 views

  •
good because some people dont get payed enough for how hard they work which is not always fair and right
  • ...4 more comments...
  •
I think it is good because there are places that people get paid $7 something which is less then $9.
  •
Increasing the minimum wage would just make companies fire people because they'd feel some workers aren't worth paying a few extra dollars. I'd love to be paid 9 dollars, but this is told to help reduce poverty, I think it'll just increase unemployment.
  •
sounds good to me becuase i feel like im getting screwed with the minimum wage... i know they have the money to do that but that could lead to be less jobs becuse they dont want to spend more money.
  •
I don't think your decision on this matter should be whether you want more money or not. Of course everyone would like to get paid more; you have to look on the effects it would create. If raising the amount should happen, I think it should be raised more gradually- not just jumping to $9 automatically.
  •
Minimum wage is based on cost of living. No one can virtually live off of minimum wage. I know of several people who have two minimum wage jobs and work all the time but still are barely getting by. I understand this is what welfare is for but I also believe that if we raised the min wage to $9 more people would be off welfare and this would be an economy booster. Also the Minimum wage should be adjusted due to the fact that it hasn't been changed for a while.
  •
i think it is a good thing to bump it up to 9 because there is no way you can live off of minimum wage i mean think what if you go to the hospital no way you can pay the bills for that and suppply food for your house no way to live

Hobby Lobby: The First Martyr Under Obamacare? - 0 views

  •
Someone posted this, but it wasn't possible to comment
  •
First point: I fail to see how denying a single cell the chance to go through mitosis is abortion. It's no more aware than bacteria. Also, the author is referencing the morning-after pill. For some reason there's a lot of confusion about how the morning after pill actually works. It prevents the egg from joining the sperm, or depending on where the woman is in her cycle, prevents the ovaries from releasing eggs. Contrary to what pro-life proponents apparently believe, conception does not happen immediately after having sex. If using the morning-after pill is abortion, we may as well call abstinence abortion. Secondly, "the mandate requires private citizens who are also employers to purchase private goods (health insurance services) with private money from non-government companies." This is clearly written by a sensationalist. What it really means is that a company has to use its own money to provide healthcare. (And everyone seems to be Forgetting that employees don't just receive healthcare plans For free). There is a difference between being a private citizen and being an employer. Owning a public company and employing people is about as far from private as you can get. "Requiring private citizens to pay For abortifacients is more akin to requiring the Amish to use their own money to purchase weapons from a private gun dealer or be Forced into bankruptcy. Or kind of like Forcing anti-pornography legal scholar Catharine MacKinnon to buy pornography For her law students." This is simply ludicrous and shows that the author clearly doesn't understand what a business is. It's a corporation, it employees people, it isn't a private citizen. I will admit that if Hobby Lobby employed only people who were in complete agreement with the beliefs of the owners I would support them in their case. However, the reality is that many of Hobby Lobby's employees don't share the exact same beliefs as the owner. And it would in fact be illegal For Hobby Lobby to choose their employ
  •
ees because of their beliefs. And the last time I checked, in America we don't make people follow certain religions or beliefs. In fact, the law isn't supposed to be based in religion. I know it sounds shocking, but it actually isn't okay to force a religion on people, or to make everyone live in accordance with one belief system, which is exactly what Hobby Lobby, and everyone who argues against this provision in the new health care law, is trying to do. Lastly, the author says repeatedly that this law essentially discriminates against Christians, which is a complete lie. Christians is a broad term. There are Christians who believe in all kinds of birth control and then there are those who think all birth control should be outlawed. There are even Christians who get abortions. So, and this is a message to anyone who writes articles of this kind, stop saying just saying Christians. Tell the truth and call yourself a Fundamentalist. Saying Christians make it seem like the majority of people who believe in Jesus Christ agree with you, and they don't. You're a minority, and you need to accept that. And maybe read a little about how our government works. It's a majority rules system.

Man sues over ¨ugly baby¨ - 4 views

  •
This is crazy how could someone sue their wife for having an ugly baby? I don't think the court should allow this to even be a case..
  • ...9 more comments...
  •
This man is disgusting. He married his wife for 'love'? If he really did love her, he would have been able to get past the way their daughter looked. Why this was a case is beyond me..
  •
I don't think you should be able to sue someone for having an ugly baby. It's not anyone's "fault", and if it were, the blame could not be placed SOLELY on the mother. I don't think this guy has a legitimate reason to sue his wife, and obviously he is a little disturbed. I don't think the courts should even allow this to be a case.
  •
    This is nuts!
  •
Thats the most ridiculous thing to sue over and the worse thing was that he won. He has to remember that half of that baby's DNA is his.
  •
Its sad that people are so concerned about appearance. He has no right to discourage the child. This shows people will go to extremes to keep a good reputation.
  •
This is just wrong. He can't blame the mother, the baby is his just as much as it is his mother's. Besides it's not like she chose for the baby to be ugly!
  •
This is just down right awful. How could someone be so cold? He is so concerned about appearance that he can't even love his own child. And the fact that the court agreed with him and gave him 12 hundred dollars is just wrong.
  •
How could someone say that about their own child. However, it was wrong of the mother to not mention her surgeries, but if he really did ever care about her, he would not have said such things.
  •
who sues heir own wife for having a ugly baby ..... does he know that baby is his just as much as it is his mother's. He is mostly suing himself !
  •
This is wrong because a lot of baby's are not cute when they are born but at the same time some are.
  •
Lololololol. What? Just because the woman is "ugly" doesn't mean the baby's appearance is entirely her fault. It was his sperm along with her egg. His DNA and hers. Wouldn't that make him partially responsible? This case shouldn't have even been allowed to go to court.

6 outrageous things Philippines president has said - 32 views

"Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is known for his outspoken comments and controversial governing style."

This is not a very professional thing to say especially about the president
  •
This "leader" is insane, he's making threats to our people and taking simple manners of politics to a new level of crazy. For example on the controversy about illegal logging he said "cut the trees and I cut your heads." Like who says this publicly about another country. This was just one of many things this man has proclaimed about Obama.
  •
I think that the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is sort of exaggerating his points to look tougher than he is, especially when he backs away from his statement about the president.
  •
What was said by President Rodrigo Duterte was very unprofessional. It calls his ability to maintain the Philippines into question. He says very inappropriate things, and does things that shouldn't and/or aren't legal.
  •
Honestly he shouldn't even be president if this is the crap he's going to pull! Rape and drug cartels are illegal and it won't get stopped cause when you are involved in that you make bank. A lot of his comments remind me of Trump all the sexual remarks especially.. Makes me sick.
  •
He shouldn't have talked about the president like that especially in an interview. It looked very unprofessional for someone big like him to say that.
  •
This guy should not be president. He is immature and childish. All his comments on important topics are crazy and not professional.
  •
I think that the comments of the President Rodrigo Duterte are very inappropriate, because he's a leader and he should be an example for the other people, but he is acting like a baby, insulting people without any sense.
  •
Obviously this guy is a crazy cannibal and should not be in a leader position if he can't be an adult and level headed about things. He seems to get angry very quickly and that's not a good characteristic of a good leader.
  •
The comments by the President are outrageous. A government official should not be saying that to news media knowing that this will get out. He acts like a little baby. He is asking to get shwacked.
  •
Just like Trump he uses his words to try and gain power but instead Duterte used choice words that insulted the president and because the cancellation of their meeting the president of the Philippines had somethings to say that he would have done and he put his words into scenarios that made him disrespectful and should not be a president if he acts like that.
  •
this dude is a savage. He is a crazy little guy and i would be scared to visit or live in the philippines
  •
It was a very unprofessional thing to say, especially about a fellow leader. Even if you disagree with someone that was taken out of hand.
  •
That Philippines President Duterte needs to loosen up, he has bad thoughts about everyone, and says them out loud, whether they're a common citizen or a leader, and he's proving himself to be dangerous to others. He said, "You drug pushers, hold-up men and do-nothings, you better go out. Because I'd kill you." He also raped a woman of her dignity after she was dead saying, "What a pity...they raped her, they all lined up. I was mad she was raped, but she was so beautiful. I thought, the mayor should have been first." He called both President Obama and the Pope something inappropriate.

Texas elector says he will not cast his vote for Donald Trump - CNNPolitics.com - 7 views

  •
"A Texas elector said Monday that enough is enough -- he will not cast his vote for President-elect Donald Trump as part of the Electoral College process on December 19."
  • ...1 more comment...
  •
The electors do have a right to not cast their vote for Trump even if he did win that state. If the electors feel that he is a legitimate danger, they are qualified to make that call for themselves.
  •
Although they have the right to choose and refuse to vote, this is the reason that some people don't vote, because the electoral college can just ignore the majority vote and do whatever. Although they should have the right to vote how they want, if they do there will probably be less people who feel like they made a difference in the process.
  •
This is not right at all the people want Donald Trump as president. People spoke they want Donald. If they really do represent there state maybe they should cast there vote even if they like Trump or not. This is getting old they need to get over it. Trump is our president.

House GOP Conference chair backs Trump, isolating Paul Ryan - 2 views

  •
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, announced her support for Donald Trump's presidential campaign late Wednesday, leaving House Speaker Paul D. Ryan as the last major GOP leader on Capitol Hill not to back Trump. I think she is right. Trump has one people over for speaking his mind, but now he has to show that he has the "temperament for the job."
  •
One of the most important jobs of the president is to form diplomatic relationships with other countries. Given Trump's plans for solving the debt crisis and building his infamous wall, it seems unlikely that he would be able to work well with other countries. I believe that it is foolish to back Trump for president because he is all over the board and has yet to prove he is capable of such a position.

I think she refused to debate because she knew she would lose

    Adoption
  •
is that a felony or a misdemeanor?
  •
It's not really like adoption because you don't paid for giving up your child. I suppose it could be closer to surrogacy because you pay someone a lot of money to carry a baby for you and they give it to you in return.
  •
What a crazy lady. She should've just given it up for adoption, at least.
  •
People need to be more responsible with their children.. This is absolutely ridiculous! Don't have children if you don't want to take care of them!
  •
I've always wanted a pet child...
  •
Wow, this is horrible! Just imagine the affects that this will have on the child when hes old enough to understand that his own mother tried to sell him when he was just a baby!
  •
Shows how desperate people are these days..
  •
7000 wouldn't even cover the costs of child birth. Come on profit margin...

Obama wants to expand overtime pay - 1 views

  •
President Obama will ask the Labor Department on Thursday to issue tougher rules on overtime, which could lead to extra pay for millions of workers who aren't currently paid for extra hours of work.
  • ...2 more comments...
  •
I think people should get paid for overtime hours! I think that would be a great idea, it would encourage people to work more. Also, if people work more than they are suppose to, they should get rewarded, and I think paying them more would be a great reward.
  •
I think Obama realizes that some Americans work overtime, because they NEED too! Some families have trouble supporting themselves with the jobs they have. So, getting paid more for extra hours would help out a lot.
  •
I like that he is going to attempt at raising overtime pay and issuing tougher enforcement for them. Most people who work overtime because they probably need to get the extra money. The only downside to this raise I currently see just from what the article stated is how there will be a possibility of the companies and businesses possibly laying off workers to keep up with their own income.
  •
    Good job, Obama!

  •
(CNN) -- A Connecticut judge could set bond for Michael Skakel on Thursday, paving the way for the possible release of the Kennedy relative, who has spent more than a decade in prison for the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley.
  •
(CNN) -- Michael Skakel, a Kennedy relative convicted of the 1975 murder of a 15-year-old neighbor, walked out of a Connecticut courthouse Thursday on bail. A Connecticut judge set bail at $1.2 million for Skakel, whose murder conviction in the death of Martha Moxley was vacated last month after a judge decided he did not receive adequate representation in his 2002 trial.
