This woman said she would condone guns in a Wyoming school to protect students from bears. Is this the woman we want to make decisions for our schools?

Betsy DeVos does not belong running public schools. She has never taught in one and she has never went to one. The most she has done is mentor in one. She sends her children to private schools. She is the wrong person for the job. Who would condone school children to have guns to "Protect them from Bears."

I believe that it is good that the mask law has been lifted a little because Texas and Florida did it first and they have not had any negative results in doing so. What are your thoughts?

I'm glad the mask mandate was lifted and a lot of people weren't really wearing them, to begin with, and a lot of people are getting vaccinated so I think a good step forward and getting closer to normal.

don't really like this idea. It was lifted way too learnly. Most of the people who decided to take off their masks aren't even fully vaccinated. it will be sad when most of them die.

I definitely think that I would be uncomfortable if I was at a football game and seen this. There was no reason for these boys to do this ad all they wanted to do was cause a problem. A high school football game is not the place to do this or involve politics with it

I don't think the students were trying to start stuff they were just showing their political opinion and no one should get mad about it because everyone is entitled to their own political views.

This happened at one of the basketball games I was at this year and I thought it was very disrespectful but nothing was said or done to the student section that said it.

Those people were just stupid, they took the chant to a whole different level how it wasn't meant to be.

I hope they lose their tax-exempt status. well if the parents know they are gonna protest have the funeral be private so they can't protest

Keeping the two high schools the way they are is not entirely because of racism. Some of the kids go to the schools out of tradition. I think for this case the courts are going to have to decide what defines integration. Do the races need to be 50/50 in schools? Is it still integrated if it is 75% white and 25% black?

About 20 students at a Virginia high school received a one-day suspension for wearing clothing displaying the Confederate flag. Montgomery County Public schools spokeswoman Brenda Drake says the clothing violated Christiansburg High school's dress code. Drake tells WSLS-TV ( http://bit.ly/1NFFsrk ) that the students refused to comply with the dress code after they arrived at the school Thursday.

I think that they should be able to wear clothes that have that it shouldn't matter they are showing that they have pride in were they came from the confederate flag shouldn't be taking away. My favorite TV show the Dukes of Hazard won't be aired on TV anymore because of people throwing a fit about it and the dukes have it because the have pride in were they live/came from. Yeah I know there's racism under the flag but people say they want to move on but get rid of the flag. If the have pride that's why they were the flag not to be racist then the should be able to were the flag

It is great to see so many comments on this case, we will be discussing this specifically in regards to our First Amendment rights together in class. Food for thought might be to consider what a symbol might represent to one group can be very different for another (think Nazi swastika and it's origin). I especially agree with Sophia who asks whether using a symbol so closely tied with racism begs the question of what aspects of Southern pride you are showing you are proud of?

Police say an Omaha man who came to the aid of a student near Monroe Middle School was shot Thursday morning. Thirty-year-old Dallas Waters told police while driving at 51st and Bedford just before 11:30 a.m. he noticed two teenaged boys pushing a School-aged girl on the sidewalk.

He was shot trying to help a girl? By the one's bullying her? Ridiculous

Students and their parents there will talk to grief counselors. They and police investigators are asking why their much loved math teacher was killed.

In high school I'm not sure how important it is for students to have their own laptops. English and history and the 2 mandatory classes that computers work well in. Science and math don't always work well, electives can use them, but not all of them. We really don't know how well this will work until next year. College on the other hand for seniors this year will require laptops, and chromebooks I don't think will work well for college. IM just going to stick with my Mac, does everything this machine does and more.

(CNN) -- A teenage boy had a plan. According to authorities in Waseca, Minnesota, John David LaDue, 17, was going to kill his family, start a diversionary fire, set off bombs at an area school, kill the resource officer there and then shoot students.

Oh my God, if the police hadn't been tipped off there may have possibly been the biggest massacre in school history! This boy had a big plan, and I'm really glad it wasn't executed.

Why do people do this? It said he was close to his sister, why kill her?. It's strange that he to idolizes a previous school shooter.

This agree with this article because they talk about how transgender's should be able to feel comfortable and use whatever restroom or facility they want. Instead of being forced into a situation where they should feel uncomfortable.

Airstrikes don't know an innocent child from a dangerous ISIS member. These weapons are effective, but are quite a dangerous way to clear out areas populated with noncombatants. This story and stories like it are exactly why the US can be easily pinned as the bad guy. If you were a Syrian and your child was killed by US bombs, are you gonna be angry at the ISIS members who hid near you, or the people who murdered your child?

I think this an amazing step in keeping ISD. My mom works with a lot of deaf student age people over in Omaha and she says that one of the worst things that has happened to them was when the Nebraska equivalent to ISD closed because the public schools said they would be able to offer the same kind of learning environment. That never ended up happening and now they are worse off then they were before.
