A violent debate: could guns be made at home by 3D printers? - 0 views

  •
Gun laws have been back in the media recently due, largely, to the horrific events at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012 which claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults. In response President Obama has just unveiled gun control proposals. In light of this growing focus on gun legislation, some have expressed concern about the possibility of guns being manufactured in the home using 3D-printing technology (also known as "additive manufacturing" or AM).

Monsanto Protection Act Proves Corporations More Powerful Than US Govt - 0 views

  •
We've seen similar scenarios in the past, events in which the massive financial power of multi-national corporations is able to buy out legislators who were elected to 'represent' voters. But now, Monsanto has set the bar even higher.

Oregon considers new taxes as 911 calls go unanswered - CNN.com - 0 views

  •
"A woman was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend after she called 911 and tried to get an officer at her home. Her call was transferred to the state police because the sheriff's department isn't staffed 24 hours a day or seven days a week, the station said. A dispatcher for the state police said, "Uh, I don't have anybody to send out there. You know, obviously, if he comes inside the residence and assaults you, can you ask him to go away?""

(CNN) -- Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber is considering legislation that would declare a public safety emergency in some Oregon counties where residents often have been left to try to fend for themselves. The measure would also impose a temporary income tax on residents of counties unable to pay for public safety workers due to budget cuts.

Obama needs a 'Plan B' on guns - 2 views

Obama may not have votes for gun legislation to pass

i think that obama should have a plan b when it comes to guns because there is always stories about how someone gets killed when they didnt do anything wrong
  •
i think there should be laws but you should have to take classes to even get a gun not just be able to go in and with a simple backround and just get one
  •
I believe gun makers are just doing what will get them the most amount of profit, since there are no laws requiring them to make weapons safer, easier to match, or track they see no point in helping, since it would cost more money to fulfill these requests.

The reason it failed is because he is not using common sense, you cant just expect someone to do something you tell them too. No they need to think about the fact and solve the issue, like school shootings and gangs in the cities thinking they can run the place, because they are cool no. You need to use mind and use it wisely and if that doesn't work than i would suggest using brute force like getting the people that are paid to solve these problems like going in to the main source of violence which would be the gang shootings and take them into custody and put them behind bars for a long time which might be the only solution he has to offer who knows.

Poll: Disapproval of Congress at historic high - 0 views

  •
Earlier this year, Americans indicated the two top reasons they disapproved of Congress was the incessant gridlock and partisan bickering, as well as the fact that the legislative body is "not getting anything done" and "not making decisions."

Mike Huckabee: The Supreme Court can't overrule God - CNNPolitics.com - 0 views

"I respect the courts, but the Supreme Court is only that -- the supreme of the courts. It is not the supreme being. It cannot overrule God," he said. "When it comes to prayer, when it comes to life, and when it comes to the sanctity of marriage, the court cannot change what God has created."

Chimp attack victim appeals to legislators for permission to sue Connecticut - 4 views

  •
This is crazy. But I do agree that is wasnt the states fault for her injuries. I do agree that it was the owners though.

I feel sorry about what happened to her but I don't think it is the sates fault that she was attacked. They weren't the ones that had the chimp as a pet her friend did.
  •
WOW. This is pretty interesting. I don't think that it is the states fault. It was her friends pet not the states. If there was anyone to sue I think it should be the friend. But it truly isn't anyone's fault.
  •
I feel that they should not be sued. It was not really their fault.

Pence signs bill allowing businesses to reject gay customers - CNN.com - 5 views

  •
"We are especially concerned about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees," NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a statement Thursday afternoon. He said the NCAA will "work diligently" to ensure competitors and visitors at next week's Final Four are not "negatively impacted by this bill."

Expressing you religion is I think is fair but rejecting gays publicly isn't. It is setting a bad example to our public and generations to come. By allowing the option it's is basically telling others it's ok not reject gays when it's wrong to do.
  •
This is just wrong. No human should be sent away if they are willing to spend money at your business, especially if they are gay. People should be free.
  •
Religious freedom? The bible says "Love Thy Neighbour", not shame them and deny them for who they are. It also isn't fair that the sports players are effected by one man's decision.
  •
I think it is ridiculous that anyone is still being discriminated this kind of stuff. It's something that isn't new, people need to be more open minded and worry so much about what others are doing.

Advocates sound alarm as restrictive voting laws pile up | TheHill - 7 views

  •
People are trying to restrict voting rights, while other's are trying their hardest to expand them. States have already started to ban the bill that would expand on those rights and it's honestly sad.

The article discusses how states are trying to implement restrictive voting laws. I understand that after the 2020 election, there is a lot of suspicion surrounding voting fund. However, I think we should ensure that these new voting laws aren't another way to discourage people from voting. The article claims that voting fraud is "exceedingly rare," so it's clear that some legislators want to stop certain groups of people from voting to fit their needs, which is very wrong.
  •
voting restriction is the largest enemy of democracy and the fabricated campaign of voter fraud being an issue is terrible to go and say that with less than 2000 confirmed fraud cases in the last 40+ years there is a problem and that who can vote needs to be restricted is absurd this is no different than post civil war voting laws like a literacy test and the grandfather clause and the arguments supporting them are no different either
  •
Funny how the same people who say all lives matter are the people trying to restrict people's voting rights. I thought we were all equal??
  •
I feel like we shouldn't people's right to vote, it's a right that should be left alone.
  •
I don't think they should restrict the voting laws, it's fine as it is.

With COVID-19 Relief Passed, It's Time for Democrats to Destroy the Filibuster - 0 views

  •
With the Filibuster in place, nothing gets done. The Filibuster allows the minority of congress to block popular legislation. Ignoring the often unrepresentative nature of the congress, this is a serious problem that isn't even enshrined in the constitution. What are your thoughts on the Filibuster?
  •
I agree, an example of this would be the 15 Dollar minimum wage increase. 62% of Americans support the increase but since the filibuster is in place the minority Republicans will continuously block the bill.
