COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Two dead bodies were found Wednesday morning in a Council Bluffs home. A man at the scene told the station said he did not hear any gunshots.

This was quite shocking to me since it happened so close to my home! The suspect was caught in front of AL which was the reason for the lockdown yesterday. I will be following this story closely as we learn more details about this sad case.
  •
The craziest thing in this whole situation is that this man killed his mother and grandmother! I want to know his motives for doing such a thing. Is there something that they did to him that triggered these actions? I hope to hear more about this case in the coming days.
  •
I think that this was a pretty scary situation, I had a friend say that she saw him walking around on the track alone. It was kind of cool to be able to see him get arrested in front of the school. They said that the shooter had an mental illness which makes people think about what could happen with anyone that has a mental illness.
  •
someone interviewed the mom 10 years ago and she said that she feels like her son was going to hurt her
  •
I passed looked out the window and saw the cops cars arresting him and it was pretty scary and the whole situiation is scary some people are just so messed up these days.
  •
1 million dollars is a lot
  •
what I don't understand is that his mother and grandmother were trying to help him get help cause he had a mental disorder and he turned around one night and killed his mother and grandmother. He should have got the help he needed instead of doing what he did.

Father's lesson is deadly for 19-year-old son Tyler Comstock as he is shot and killed b... - 4 views

This is absolutely crazy! This is a perfect example of police crossing the line of authority. He was killed because he wouldn't shut off the truck. His dad was trying to teach him a lesson, not kill him.

I agree with Hayli, I don't understand why they had to shoot at him they could of shot at the tires or somewhere on the truck. so many killings have been happening by miss observations and cops killing innocent people.
  •
This is a total abuse of power. There are so many other ways you could stop a driver. They should have backed off like Ames suggested
  •
Just because you have a right to have a gun and fire if needed, doesn't mean you should every time a person isn't cooperating.
  •
Yet again another case where the police have gone to far. With the government protection will these cases ever stop? Yeah they fire one guy then the next day you hear about it in a different state. Where is the punishment?
  •
I agree with Ladasia it is another example of total abuse of power.
  •
This is a great example of the police abusing there power. Yet there is no consequences for the police that shot a 19 year old that would not turn off his truck engine.
  •
The police should be fined and fired from their jobs! They abused their power.
  •
another example of abuse of there power
  •
To pursue a stolen vehicle and pull them over is one thing but to need your weapons at all when the father is the one who called the police and use that much force is pointless and life wasting as we can see.
  •
They shot at a person who was unarmed and wasn't trying to hurt anybody, yet they chased him down and killed him like a criminal. This doesn't make sense.
  •
I agree with Hayli because all he was doing was teaching a lesson! Not try to kill him!
  •
This is a terribly unfortunate story. But I agree with the decision that the policemen made. The boy was driving recklessly and not cooperating on a college campus. If it had escalated much more they would have been putting the university in danger.
  •
Not the best story I've heard..thoughts and heart goes out to the family..
  •
Where was the escalation, Jackson? They could have smoked him out, they have tassers, there are all sorts of non-lethal things Cops are trained in for this kind of situation. Yet here they with out their guns and mow him down with shots to the head. There was no need for that.
  •
Sad stuff out there. And it kinda hits home considering this took place here in Iowa...
  •
Not that I want to admit it, but last year I got in HUGE trouble because I told my mothers car multiple times without permission. What if they would have wanted to teach me a lesson? Would I get killed just because I had a moment of bad decisions? This makes me think how easily this could have been me.

Nebraska outlaws the death penalty - CNNPolitics.com - 17 views

  •
"Six states have abolished capital punishment since 2007 -- Nebraska is now the seventh."
  • ...17 more comments...
  •
I think it was a good idea to outlaw the death penalty, personally because I don't think that you should take someones life in punishment of someone else's. "An eye for an eye." There's always another way to deal with this, not greet it with death. If anything, I'd sentence him to jail for most of his life or his whole life in that matter. But the Government itself can also make a mistake and accuse the innocent of murder and then give them death as a punishment. They'd be in the wrong. Death is more drastic to me then spending a few years in jail, (thinking about it in a family way).
  •
Keeping someone in jail for their whole life takes millions of dollars paid from the tax payers. If their crime was drastic enough then I am fully in support of the death penalty. Jail is basically a long term time out chamber for people to get clean and think about what they did. If you have already murdered, or raped, or abused someone a thirty year wag of the finger is not going to change their behavior.
  •
I believe in the death penalty. Let's say there's a serial killer and he's already murdered a good amount of people. Would you really want that person to go on living his or her life after all the pain he caused for all of those families? I know I wouldn't.
  •
I believe in the death penalty because if someone has already done a good amount of harm to others and they have died because of it then the person who committed the crime deserves the same. Keeping them in prison is just a waste of money and giving them to much time. They deserve nothing less and being in prison isn't going to change their behavior.
  •
As a very liberal person myself, and the death penalty is a conservative policy for crime, I am happy to see a state so close to home abolish this penalty. We have prisons and judges and laws for a reason that will punish those who do bad things. What are we accomplishing by killing someone publicly for killing others?
  •
I belive the death penalty is okay becasue you have to commit a pretty serious crime to get the death penalty and really in that case you almost kind of deserve it because of the pain you caused to multiple people.
  •
The death penalty is a tricky subject to talk about, most people are strictly for the death penalty, or strongly against it. However, in my opinion, I believe that everything has a consequence to a set of actions. Is it necessary to kill somebody though? I think everyone deserves a second chance especially if they know they are in the wrong and trying to change their lives around. The type of crime the person committed is the key. Let's say a person committed murder, would you say "an eye for an eye?" and kill them too through the death penalty? If you were to do this, aren't you doing the same thing that they committed? Overall, I think it was wise that Nebraska outlawed the death penalty.
  •
I don't believe in the death penalty, because by killing someone who killed someone else it's hypocritical. I think it's wrong to kill anyone, even if they killed someone else. The death penalty also put innocent lives at risk, someone could have been framed for the murder. The death penalty also costs a lot of money, people think that it's okay because they think that it saves the government from spending money but we are still spending a lot. There are a lot better ways to avoid the death penalty, and there a lot of mentally ill patients killed by the death penalty.
  •
I believe that outlawing the death penalty is the right thing to do because you shouldn't fight fire with fire. It is wrong to show that killing, or any other act of the sort, is wrong by doing the same thing. It is also a good thing because there have been wrong accusations in the past, and the death penalty cannot be undone. If you argue for a just prosecution, they can live with the guilt of their crime in prison. If they felt no remorse then the person should get pyschiatric help to correct the situation. There is also data that says the death penality costs more than housing the prisoner because of the long appeal process.
  •
Spending jail time is to help you become a better person because you did something bad. Killing someone does not help them become better as a person.
  •
I believe in the death penalty, if someone has committed a big enough crime.I don't think it should be outlawed becuase If someone has tortured and/or murdered multiple people than they should.
  •
Moms freakin out by this she wont shut up about it its hilarious
  •
I think it is good that states are starting to outlaw the death penalty. If someone kills someone why does it make it right for them to be killed even if its by the government. Today we see punishments like the electric chair as barbaric and years from now people will say the same thing about the death penalty.
  •
I think we should keep the death penalty why should we have people murder other people and live in prison the rest of their lives we should show them what the did to people i mean the deserve so i think we should keep the death penalty
  •
We should keep the death penalty because if you take a persons life or multiple peoples lives then yes the state should take yours. Only if it was on purpose, because you get in a car crash and kill someone from the impact that shouldn't really count because it wasn't intended. Also if someone gets life in prison they get everything pretty much handed to them and they don't to pay for it. For example Nikko Jenkins killed multiple people on multiple occasions and no justice happened for the family's who had to deal with the loss of a loved one because hes just going to prison for life.
  •
I think the death penalty is okay to have in every state. If you are willing to murder a person then you should be murdered yourself. The crime they commit should be used in the same way against them.
  •
but are you willing to take it yourself for a crime that's the question everyone fears.
  •
I think its okay if the person that going into it haves killed like 40 people and they in joy doing it but if you just kill some one on accident then its not right just to give them the death penalty, instead they should just be locked up.

Jeep Wrangler Engine Explodes After 50,000 RPM Rev - 2 views

  •
I think that being able to tow a trailer or car behind a truck should be something that anyone could do, but things like this make me think that there needs to be some type of additional training when doing so. What are your thoughts?
  •
I think it would be a good idea to require some form of training to be able to tow things on busy roads where others are in danger but I think for short distances on smaller less active roads there should be no training. In my opinion, it's the driver's responsibility to make sure they don´t destroy their vehicle but I also didn't think about the other people that could be killed for just driving near someone towing something the wrong way. In that case, I think there should be some sort of training so that others on the road are not at risk.

Should people pump gas into plastic bags during the fuel shortage? Please don't, offici... - 16 views

  •
It amazes me that people would even think this is a good idea. What are your thoughts?
  • ...13 more comments...
  •
People should definitely not pump gas into plastic bags or any container that is not meant for gas. My main thought is that people shouldn't take more gasoline than they truly need. People stalking up on gas is just going to make the shortage worse than it already is.
  •
people hoarding gas in this situation only worsens the situation in a fuel shortage when you take more than you need you're just taking a conscious decision to disadvantage other people who wouldn't be able to get gas.
  •
I´m not surprised by this at this point. I had a gas can spill over in my car and I couldn't breathe when I was driving so I think it´s a hazard that so many people are driving around with bags of gas in their trunk that I bet not only leak but the gas probably destroys the plastic causing more leaks. Theoretically, you can ruin the gas this way not only by spilling it but by the plastic infecting it. It´s also just a bad idea in general to hoard gas because if it runs out at a slow pace the more likely there will be time to refill the stations.
  •
People need to stop putting gasoline into plastic bags because it's only causing more contamination to the planet. I think people instead should try to calm down and we try to figure out what to do about the fuel shortage.
  •
I don't think people realize that the gasoline will burn the plastic bags so you're pretty much wasting your money by the time you get home from the gas station.
  •
I feel like just because something became more expensive, doesn't mean you can get it while it is "cheaper" excessively.
  •
This is crazy to think that people actually do that and think that it's a good idea. Fighting to get to the gas first also isn't going to help, it will just start a craze and everyone going for gas will cause the prices to rise even more.
  •
It amazes me that people would even think this is a good idea and even try putting gas in a plastic bag.
  •
I feel like this is wrong and not even a safe, smart, efficient way to go about collecting fuel for yourself. And the people that are taking more than they need and know it are completely wrong, there are people who rely on that and being selfish is just ridiculous for them.
  •
I feel like this is just unsafe and not smart. If the bag broke they would spill everywhere, wasting more gas. Also, if there is gas in bags you're being selfish and could potentially put yourself in danger.
  •
What no who comes up with these ideas
  •
I thought this was dumb because they were scared of a shortage but like stocking up with gas would only be making it worse because they are helping the storage.
  •
This is not only idiotic but unsafe as well for so many obvious reasons. People scrambling and trying to hoard gas is only going to make this 'shortage' worse.
  •
This one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while. Why would anyone even think to do this? First off it's unsafe and hazardous and second just plain dumb. People need to not be greedy and just calm down with trying to hoard gas.
  •
What? No way. Not only is that a selfish thing to do, but it's dangerous as well. This could be like the toilet paper incident from the beginning of last year but for southerners.

Iowa Lawmakers Now Seek To Ban Traffic Cameras - 9 views

  •
Has there been any real results from installing the traffic cameras? I know that the ones by my house don't always work so it just seems like a waste of resources there. They have probably helped reduce the amount of people that step on it when the light turns yellow but does that really solve any problems? or just teach us to rive faster in order to avoid the red lights?
  • ...5 more comments...
  •
I saw an article this summer which argues they cause more rear end collisions when drivers slam on the brakes to avoid a ticket. Interesting read on both sides of the issue from ABC news. http://goo.gl/JKwmO
  •
I believe that traffic cameras cause many people to become fearful of red light intersections. Because of their fear, they sometimes don't pay as much attention to their own surrounding
  •
i think they should get rid of the traffic cameras. ive almost hit someone bc they slammed on the brakes unexpectedly. they can be hazardous
  •
I agree with Zac And Alexis. I hate it when its counting down, and you have to determine if you want to stop or speed up. Its very stressful!
  •
I think they should keep them. There good for safety and people can be more aware because they know they would get a ticket if not.
  •
I think they should get rid of them, people are more scared to get a ticket than to slam on their breaks surprising the car behind them, causing a fender bender accident.
  •
I agree with the ban. Sure, people run less red lights, but they have caused stoplights to be more of a danger. People start speeding more to make the light to not get a ticket or brake really hard and cause accidents.
