Gay Teen Speaks Out - 3 views

  •
Thanks for posting this story. Sometimes issues like bullying and discrimination are hard to personify without hearing how the victims are impacted. I think there was some level of attention at our school with the "give it a ponder" lessons. Do you think our school needs to do more to address bullying (physical or cyber)? Any suggestions?

Political Cartoon: real-fear-of-occupy-wall-street - 17 views

the occupy wall street seems to be waking up the middle class
  •
I think it means that the middle class is starting to progressively get stronger and the media doesn't like it.
  •
I think this pretty much means that the media doesn't want any attention brought to them and wall street is doing just that by waking up the middle class
  •
the media is the evil and it is trying to end the movement with a bad apple "press".

Apple Education - 4 views

  •
This I think will revolutionize the textbook industry. Textbooks for high schools run close to $100, Apple able to sell digital copies for $15 is simple amazing. Schools might now adapt iPads and save money in the long run on text books. Also iBook Authors could change the book industry the way that iTunes changed the music industry. We will have to give all of these new services a year and then we will see if Apple can dominate another major industry.
  •
Yes Brice! I think this will change a lot in the education world.

Twins found dead in trunk - 9 views

There are plenty of other ways to deal with an unexpected/unwanted pregnancy. Several things in this case just don't add up; did she really think no one would notice that her "baby bump" just went away, and there were no babies? How could she kill not one, but two of her own newborn children? She just carried them around for nine months...and she couldn't think of a better option such as adoption, giving birth at a hospital and then deciding she should drop them off at a safe haven, or if she really didn't want children, she could have had an abortion, though it is pretty much the same as what she did now, she wouldn't have given her children nine months to develop and live...it's a tricky situation.

i think that this would be an extremely effective option and would pose a giant problem if these websites shut down, even for a day especially if it was google.
  •
hahahahahahahahahaha! i wonder how the government will react to this protest. Are they going to start arresting all of the employees of these componies. this will be interesting.

Companies** And i think this is great.

New Defense Plan To Slim Down Military, Shift U.S. Security Focus To Asia | Fox News - 5 views

  •
I think this will be a good thing for the U.S. I am pretty sure that there are enough people who want to fight for our country's freedom so why do we need to keep paying more and more for the military? I don't think they are going to take all of the money the military has.

Mitt Romney's tax returns: He earned $42.5 million, is paying $6.2 million in taxes - 2 views

  •
I haven't filed my taxes for 2011, so I can't be sure but I think don't think I made that much this year. On the "bright side" I won't have to pay $6 million unless my tax guy screws up pretty badly. As the article points out, this makes Romney part of the top 1%... but paying a lower percentage of taxes than most Americans.

MIssing plane could have landed - 7 views

  •
What I don't get is if it has actually landed, why has it not been able to contact anyone yet?
  • ...2 more comments...
  •
I don't think there is anyway that it could have landed without someone being able to trace them.
  •
What I don't understand is that they keep saying that " there is a chance that it could have landed. " I think that they will know when it has landed...
  •
If it didn't land, it crashed, if it crashed it should have been detected. So, my guess is that it flew outside of the area they are searching, to an island or something.
  •
I just don't understand how the government can track anybody's phone, but someone can loose a plane??

"Congress to Hold Hearing on Country's Clashing Marijuana Laws"
  •
i think that soon every state in america will probably jump on the train of legalizing marijuana but i think with the legalization of weed will help with getting us out of debt but for people who smoke weed its going to be taxed very highly so if your going to try to go to dispensaries it will most likely cost you alot more than it would on the streets

Stadium deaths: What's behind the fatal falls - 1 views

  •
It happened again Sunday. A woman leaped from the third level of the Oakland Coliseum during the Raiders football game. She survived the 40 to 50-foot drop when a Marine vet who happened to be leaving the stadium shielded her fall with his body. But others have not been so fortunate.
  •
Right..when you think you know It all..this happens.
  •
It's not people being "so stupid". Many people don't think :"If i catch this ball I might fall to my death". I understand some had drugs in their systems, others jumped, and others just fell. That doesn't make them stupid.

I don't know how well everyone having a computer will work, and how well students will take care of it.
  •
Connor makes a good point. I think we will have to establish a school culture that bringing your laptop to class is as important as having your cell phone with you. Also, here is another article about our Google day. http://goo.gl/9GvQi
  •
In high school I'm not sure how important it is for students to have their own laptops. English and history and the 2 mandatory classes that computers work well in. Science and math don't always work well, electives can use them, but not all of them. We really don't know how well this will work until next year. College on the other hand for seniors this year will require laptops, and chromebooks I don't think will work well for college. IM just going to stick with my Mac, does everything this machine does and more.

South Carolina police shooting: Walter Scott's family appeals for calm - 7 views

Police officer in South Carolina pulled over a man on Saturday for a traffic violation, and left the courtroom yesterday charged with murder.

Police officers are getting more and more violent and makes me wonder, what is causing it?
  •
I wonder what the whole story is. I wonder what the series of events were. I don't imagine the cop shooting at random victim, but then I also don't know what the victim did.
  •
Crazy to think that this may have happened many other times, yet there are not witnesses to say so. Also, it makes me wonder if there was something that triggered the officer to react in the manner that he did.
  •
I think these types of articles need to stop being publicized because rogue cops are being exposed. People focus on the bad instead of the good and things like this is making a lot of people dislike cops for unjustified and unfair reasons because although this article may be true, a lot aren't.

Senate panel releases scathing report on CIA interrogations amid security warnings - 4 views

  •
I think that the CIA should be supported and not talked down on because of these incidents. I think that the CIA has to go through deep measures to protect citizens of the U.S and the things they do shouldn't be questioned.

Sony material stolen by hackers. What does this have to do with "The Interview"? - 7 views

If you were the CEO of Sony, do you postpone the release of this movie for fear that other hackers will release sensitive information your company doesnt want public?

On June 25, North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency condemned the film (without naming it), promising "stern" and "merciless" retaliation if the film is released. "Making and releasing a film that portrays an attack on our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war and will absolutely not be tolerated" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Interview_%282014_film%29
  •
I think Sony should release the movie anyway. Korea already has the information so what's done is done. Sony spent a lot of money to make the movie so if they just throw away all of the time and money, it would be even more of a loss.
  •
I don't understand why it would be a big deal anyway its not like any of their citizens can see the movie only the Korean leader could because of the communism he is running in the country. If it as taken as a form of threat then so be it it was never intended as that.
  •
I dont think Sony should be scared. North Korea might release all of there information and financials but the movie isnt really that big of a deal. They should go ahead and release it.

Pence signs bill allowing businesses to reject gay customers - CNN.com - 5 views

  •
"We are especially concerned about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees," NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a statement Thursday afternoon. He said the NCAA will "work diligently" to ensure competitors and visitors at next week's Final Four are not "negatively impacted by this bill."
  • ...2 more comments...
  •
Expressing you religion is I think is fair but rejecting gays publicly isn't. It is setting a bad example to our public and generations to come. By allowing the option it's is basically telling others it's ok not reject gays when it's wrong to do.
  •
This is just wrong. No human should be sent away if they are willing to spend money at your business, especially if they are gay. People should be free.
  •
Religious freedom? The bible says "Love Thy Neighbour", not shame them and deny them for who they are. It also isn't fair that the sports players are effected by one man's decision.
  •
I think it is ridiculous that anyone is still being discriminated this kind of stuff. It's something that isn't new, people need to be more open minded and worry so much about what others are doing.

DonaldTrump on father's 'small' $1 million loan - CNNPolitics.com - 0 views

  •
"My whole life really has been a 'no' and I fought through it," Trump said Monday at an NBC-sponsored town hall here. "It has not been easy for me, it has not been easy for me. And you know I started off in Brooklyn, my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars."
  •
thats terrible, he should've just earned it himself, earned more votes that way.
  •
I saw a video of this on facebook, I think it's dumb for him to say that he has had a hard life. Most americans don't even see a million dollars and he was given it because he was fortunate enough to grow up in a wealthy family. I don't think he cares much about those who don't have the same opportunity that he did. He didn't have a hard life at all.

Silently protesting Muslim woman ejected from Trump rally - CNNPolitics.com - 2 views

  •
Rose Hamid, a 56-year-old flight attendant sitting in the stands directly behind Trump, stood up Friday during Trump's speech when the Republican front-runner suggested that Syrian refugees fleeing war in Syria were affiliated with ISIS. Trump has previously called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S.
  •
its ridiculous that the people are being so rude, just because trump thinks its okay. she has a right to stand up and protest she wasnt being violent or anything she has the freedom of speech.
  •
I think that this situation was handled terribly by Trump and shows that he is not the man that should be the President of the United States. It shows that he is not someone who knows how to handle a situation correctly and properly.

Here are 9 reasons Denmark's socialist economy leaves the US in the dust - 11 views

  •
Thanks to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders' proud identification as a Democratic Socialist and allusion to Denmark as an ideal social democracy, Denmark is being discussed throughout the news media. But what few outlets are brave enough to report is that, by almost every measurable standard, Danish socialism runs circles around American capitalism.

    Very interesting to read
  •
So Denmark is the happiest country in the world, is #1 for business, and poverty rates are lower interesting.
  •
I do think the Danish economy makes things run smoother for the people and it would make the United States better by taking on some of those socialist ideas. It would require higher taxes but I think it would pay off in the future

As a parent getting ready to send my kids off to college in the near future, number 5 looked pretty nice... free tuition and paying the student $900 per month to attend!!!

Obama on gun control: His emotional evolution - CNNPolitics.com - 4 views

  •
Watch CNN's "Guns in America" townhall with President Obama at 8 p.m. ET Thursday But on one issue -- guns -- President Barack Obama lets the public mask slip, revealing the ire boiling within.
  • ...1 more comment...
  •
I feel that if Obama really had all these emotions and is wanting these "shooting sprees" in America to stop, there needs to be something done about it. I understand that we have the right to bare arms, and not everyone will follow the laws made to make things more safe, but implimenting things in schools like metal detectors, or by having it required that parents kept guns locked up would help more with this situation.
  •
I agree with you but its like if he feels or thinks about these shooting you would think that he would want it to and that he needs to do something about it instead of not doing anything.
  •
i agree. Obama had and has a lot of feeling about this subject. we need to do something about it
