Russia claims it can wipe out US Navy with single 'electronic bomb' - 15 views

  •
Russia has claimed it can disable the entire US Navy in one fell swoop using powerful electronic signal jamming. A news report from the country - where the media is essentially controlled by the state - said the technology could render planes, ships and missiles useless.

Russia is threatening the US with statements saying that they could destroy our navy and air force by jamming all of the signals. In my opinion Trump should take action to make sure that they don't do that because then America would be vulnerable. I'm not saying that we should attack but we should focus on defense right now.
  •
If so, why don't the Russians do it? And now that Russia apparently claimed what they can do, can America compete with this and maybe use the same technology on the Russians?
  •
How credible is this information? If it is credible what is the Government doing about the threat?
  •
Because Russia says they are capable of doing this. There is a possiblity of them expressing it over dramatically. If you look at the technology comparison, the United states is much farther ahead. You don't think we can do the same back at them? We probably can. Just get an EMP.
  •
You cant jam an M16 with an electric bomb.
  •
I was also reading from a few different sources that an ex-Russian official has suggested that Russia military has the ability to use underwater nukes to detonate a "tsunami bomb" off our coasts. This claim has been officially denied by the Putin govt, but interesting to consider weapons like this. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/01/russia-can-launch-tsunami-against-us-nuclear-bombs-buried-ocean/
  •
I'm not quite sure why we're so worried about alleged claims created by Russia. Not only that but the U.S. military as well as U.S. technology like Daniel said is much more advanced. If we really want to know if these allegations are true find out. Otherwise you stay living in fear over whether something is true or not. Take their threat and do something about it if it's a threat that's that high in severity.
  •
I wonder if Donald Trump has done anything about this, or is planning to. Russia threatening us with this is very serious and I have a feeling Trump is not doing much. Could Russia really disable all planes and missiles through an electronic signal?
  •
Is the government going to do anything about this issue? Or should the people have to worry about a near future war ahead?

Think 3-D printing is cool? Try 4-D - 0 views

  •
(Not really political but an interesting subject, Plus, what if it started in the military)(CNN) -- Video producer's note: You've heard of 3-D printing, the process of using a specialized printer to create real-world objects from computer models. Now there's something new on the horizon that could revolutionize this burgeoning technology: 4-D printing. At TED 2013, senior fellow Skylar Tibbits sat down with CNN Ideas to further explain this mysterious fourth dimension in printing technology.

U.S. requires group to remove 3-D gun instructions from its website - CNN.com - 0 views

  •
At issue was whether Wilson had violated International Traffic in Arms Regulations by posting files on his website allowing users to download and print firearms with 3-D printing technology.
  •
i think they should remove it cause this would make it a lot easier for minors to get guns and use them for unnecessary reasons
  •
i think its good that htey took it down becuse there vould cause alot of problems

A violent debate: could guns be made at home by 3D printers? - 0 views

  •
Gun laws have been back in the media recently due, largely, to the horrific events at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012 which claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults. In response President Obama has just unveiled gun control proposals. In light of this growing focus on gun legislation, some have expressed concern about the possibility of guns being manufactured in the home using 3D-printing technology (also known as "additive manufacturing" or AM).

Facebook slammed for deleting iconic Vietnam War photo - Sep. 9, 2016 - 23 views

  •
"Mark Zuckerberg is facing criticism after Facebook censored one of the most famous war photographs in history."
  • ...4 more comments...
  •
I can see the situation from both directions. Facebook was trying to keep it theses things from blowing up and how close it was to child pornography, even if it was a historic photo. But it is part of our history and we should be able to see it when we want. I guess its just a matter of opinion.
  •
I can see why they censored the photo because it's in direct violation of their rules. I can also see the other side of the story and how people say that it's historical contention should be left untouched. If Zuckerberg doesn't do this then people can use the photo against him and claim that their rules are biased.
  •
Its not Mark Zuckerbergs fault the picture was on Facebook, and it should not be a big deal because the picture is part of understanding the history of the world.
  •
The picture is not a big deal it is part of history and it wasn't his fault at all, there is no reason that other people should be blaming him for the whole deal when he didnt even put it up in the first place
  •
I can understand were their coming from but that doesn't excuse that fact you should delete a picture of history.
  •
Mark should not be getting negative feedback from this picture. This is part of our history, and he may be getting the hate for this picture when he wasn't the one that posted it, but people should understand that this picture is part of history. Even though some may believe this is bad it shouldn't be taken like that.

apple - 13 views

It is fun to look at the graph of Apple's stocks, you can see where new products were announced and other major events like the passing of Steve Jobs. But reaching $500 a stock is amazing, then you compare it to Microsoft's stock of $32ish and you laugh at that company.
  • ...3 more comments...
  •
i agree with brice, thats a crazy differential between companies where most people think they are similar
  •
No matter what apple will go up.
  •
Apple is a large distributer f products that are used today, so it will go up sooner than later.
  •
You have to look at the number of shares not the value. While Microsoft is only $32 a share, there are far more shares. By Microsoft splitting stock they can give more people the power to buy in. So in response to Brice stock price isn't important, it's stock history. I will admit Microsoft isn't as solid as Apple currently is but the $32 to $500 isn't a true reflection of the companies.
  •
Even though Microsoft isn't that big and does not have that much money in shares, I would still go for Apple because if you have shares with Apple you can get a huge amount of money.

National Healthcare Will Require National RFID Chips - 7 views

An interesting concept for sure. Although the author might be overstating the possibility of this kind of technology, I would be shocked if most people would agree to this sort of tracking. But then again I was shocked to see how many people are OK with the TSA "naked scans" at airports too... guess privacy isn't as concerning to Americans as it once was.

As much as the vast majority of people dread the thought of this, I personally think that it has potential to make the world a much better place.

Todd Akin, GOP Senate candidate: 'Legitimate rape' rarely causes pregnancy - 2 views

This is really having some political fallout for Akin's comments even within his own party... http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/08/22/ryan_called_akin_to_get_him_to_drop_race.html

I can only hope that he does drop out of the race. I don't believe that anyone as ignorant as he seems to be is fit to be a Senator. I would have hoped that if someone were a pro-life advocate they could at least take the time to understand the reproductive system. Not to mention that "legitimate rape" is possibly one of the most offensive things you could say when discussing this issue. Is he trying to imply that there is non-legitimate rape or does he just not realize what he's saying?
  •
From reading the article I feel as tho they did not get the most current and correct medical information about this subject. I also think candidate Romney is trying to back peddle and correct what he said in a earlier interview and he is not actually legitimately concern with this controversy.
  •
i agree with Mallory I really would not want someone that ignorant being in power of anything
  •
I don't think anyone ignorant and has no respect what so ever should have any power.
  •
This is something I've heard about for the last few days and I really wish I could tell this man how ignorant and stupid he sounds. Does he really think that's true, because if he does then there's obviously something wrong and he needs to get help.
  •
I just wanted to point out that Todd Akin is a member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Which I think makes his statement even more ridiculous.
