The Aldrich is one of the few non-collecting contemporary art museums in the United States. Founded on Ridgefield's historic Main Street in 1964, the Museum enjoys the curatorial independence of an alternative space while maintaining the registrarial and art-handling standards of a national institution. Exhibitions feature work by emerging and mid-career artists, and education programs help adults and children to connect to today's world through contemporary art. About: On March 2, 2011, JR won the TED prize at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and called for the creation of a global participatory art project with the potential to change the world. This project is called INSIDE OUT. Inspired by JR's large‐format street "pastings", INSIDE OUT gives everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and make a statement for what they stand for. It is a global platform for people to share their untold stories and transform messages of personal identity into works of public art.

You are walking along a city street when suddenly you are confronted by the totally unexpected. A wall of greenery rises vertically up the face of a building nearby, and architecture takes on a whole new dimension. Not only are those who instigate this type of cladding being environmentally friendly. They are saving money as well.

Established in 1974, the McKee Gallery specializes in leading contemporary painters and sculptors. The gallery is located on 5th avenue in New York City, between 57th and 58th street on the east side of the avenue, 4th floor.

Herzlichen laden wir Sie ein zur Ausstellung PengZackBumm mit Malerei der Kölner Künstlerin Sabine Tress am Sonntag, 20. Februar 2011, 15:00 Uhr, in die [galerie.bruehl], Uhlstraße 2, 50321 Brühl (in der Fußgängerzone, direkt am Rathaus) Die Ausstellung wird bis 1. April 2011 zu folgenden Öffnungszeiten zu sehen sein: montags bis freitags 10:00 bis 13:00 Uhr sowie 14:00 bis 18:00 Uhr, samstags 11:00 bis 14:00 Uhr. Während der Karnevalstage 3. bis 7. März 2011 ist die Galerie geschlossen. Zur Ausstellung: Sabine Tress macht Bilder. Ihr Werkprozess ist spontan, spannungsgeladen, eruptiv, ebenso überlegt wie intuitiv - „PengZackBumm" eben. Ihre Bildtafeln bilden nichts (oder nur höchst selten etwas) ab. Vielmehr stellen sie die Malerei selbst in den Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung. Themen sind das Wachsen und Werden, das Schichten, Überlagern, Sich-Ergänzen und Verdrängen. Bereits vorhandene Farbflächen überdeckt Sabine Tress bis zur Unkenntlichkeit, andere verschleiert sie so verführerisch und hauchzart, dass man um so neugieriger wird auf das immer noch offenkundige Darunter. Stets lässt Sabine Tress den Betrachter an ihren Expeditionen ins Reich der malerischen Möglichkeiten teilhaben. Es geht um Gewicht, Sinnlichkeit und Variantenreichtum von Form, Farbe und Fläche. Was ist es, das die Aufmerksamkeit des Betrachters auf sich zieht? Sind es die massigen Farbkrusten, die so auffällig mäandernden Rinnsale oder doch eher die Zuckerwatte-leichten Spraydosen-Spots, die so sehr an ihre Ursprünge in der Street-Art erinnern? Ist es gar das wohlüberlegte Zusammenspiel all dieser Kräfte? Auch wenn es nur selten Abbild- oder Symbolhaftes in den Arbeiten der Künstlerin gibt, Assoziationen lösen die Werke von Sab

I wanna share this article simply because I'm still waiting for a congratulations letter from the organization of a visual art competition I participate. I don't want this preperception (or illusion) of winning the 1st prize ruin the pleasure of making art.

A very well-designed Canadian arts community. It got studios, forums, blogs and lots of fantastic artwork. You can register as a member then build a portfolio page to publish your works.

By the way, I don't think you actually have to be a Canadian to host your online studio there. Sound nice, huh?! : ]
