Depuis 1988 Catherine Gfeller a exposé ses travaux au Canada, aux Etats-Unis, en Israël, en Argentine, au Chili, en Angleterre, en Allemagne, en Belgique, en France, en Hollande, en Italie, en Slovénie et en Suisse, où ses oeuvres se trouvent dans de nombreuses collections publiques et privées. Elle participe régulièrement aux foires d'art contemporain comme Art Basel, Art Unlimited, Kunst Zurich, Armory Show, la Fiac, la Biennale de Ljubjana et Art Bruxelles.

The project Stimmungsgasometer is about a smiley on a huge screen from which one can read the average mood of the Berlin citizens. When they are collectively "happy" the light is a smile, and when they are not, it is a sad face. Input comes from facial recognition software that takes in video from a strategically placed camera. The software estimates whether passers by are happy or not, and then installation changes accordingly.

Electric Sheep is a collaborative abstract artwork founded by Scott Draves. It's run by thousands of people all over the world, and can be installed on any ordinary PC or Mac. When these computers "sleep", the Electric Sheep comes on and the computers communicate with each other by the internet to share the work of creating morphing abstract animations known as "sheep". The result is a collective "android dream", an homage to Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

The pieces that this site is perhaps most notable for are the mirrors, sometimes made of things that are not naturally reflective. For example: the wooden mirror, which, taking the image from a videoacamera, activates selected actuators, causing some of the wooden panels on a display to tilt downward. Those panels, appearing darker because they are now in shadow, create the darkened region of a mechanically created, pixelated moving image of the person standing before the "mirror". In the artist's own words, "Rozin creates installations and sculptures that have the unique ability to change and respond to the presence and point of view of the viewer". Videos and photos of some of his work are included.

Honestly, I'm not a guy into overmuch, though I alaways admire the idea and labour of creating art. As for geuclide's works, THANKS GOD he knows the boundary and jumps out of the stereotypes skillfully and stylishly. I can pull out a whole package of adjectives to describe his works, one of them is MARVELOUS. As you can see on the left, his abstract appear like an abstract landscape painting, with soft, appealing color schemes, plenty of space around and a bit of darker doodle that brings extra moves and delightful surprise to the image, which basically makes me wanna pick up the phone immediately and ask him how much he would like to sell it. :O) If you can' agree my viewpoint more, go check out his humblevoice gallery, for he has lots of things to feast your hungry eyes.

       I'm upgrading my PC (by purchaing a NEW one - ouch!!) and my GIMP as well. The new, stable version for Windows is 2.4.2, with a prettier GUI. If English isn't your mother language and you prefer reading English like me, they have a solution for you on GIMP Talk. Go to C:\\Program Files\\GIMP-2.0\\lib\\locale and remove all the folders that do not start with en_ and then your GIMP will be ready to take off!

Some sweet links here despite the name (AnimeKandi.org...) I went through a couple of the illustration links and was pleased. I didn't find any anime. This is worth exploring.
