Der strukturierte Themenplan der AG Podcasting für das Sommersemester 2009

The presentation will be to debunk some of the myths around the so-called Net Generation by highlighting the lack solid research to support many of the claims. I will present results from research done at BCIT and elsewhere to argue for a more nuanced approach to the use of educational technology to support the needs of this generation of learner.

Die UNESCO zieht den Begriff der Wissensgesellschaften dem der Informationsgesellschaft vor. Sie legt den Schwerpunkt damit bewusst auf Bildung und Entwicklung und bezieht eine ethische, soziale und politische Perspektive ein. Der Begriff der Informationsgesellschaft hingegen ist technisch geprägt und legt den Akzent nur auf das Mittel; die Bereitstellung von Information allein ist nur eine Voraussetzung für den Wissenserwerb. Die Verwendung des Plurals "Gesellschaften" trägt der kulturellen Vielfalt Rechnung.

Neues Portal zum Austauschen und Teilen von Unterrichtesentwürfen und beispielen mit web2.0

Take the simplicity of Twitter, add some features such as sending attachments, redesign the software to appeal to teachers and students, what you end up with is Edmondo.com, a young site that is rapidly gaining converts in the education community. It is a great example of using digital tools to organize a student's day-to-day workflow. Edmodo provides a way for teachers and students to share notes, links, and files. Teachers have the ability to send alerts, events, and assignments to students. Privacy is the biggest drawback to using traditional web 2.0 tools in a k-12 classroom setting.  (Has Twitter been around long enough to be called traditional?) Edmondo promotes itself as "a private communication platform for teachers and students." I'm not a teacher, so I'll defer to the views of someone who is. Mark Warner is a primary teacher in the U.K. who runs the successful www.TeachingIdeas.co.uk and blogs on MrWarner.com.  He and his students (ages nine and ten) just recently started using the site, and they think it's great.

Podcasts are designed to include talk shows, tutorials, music, or other audio content.

Medienbildung Im Laufe der letzten Jahre taucht in der Diskussion um die Medienpädagogik immer häufiger auch das Wort "Medienbildung" auf. Während die Aufgaben der Medienpädagogik recht klar beschrieben sind, steht eine Definition der Medienbildung noch am Anfang. Medienbildung erschöpft sich nicht in der Vermittlung von Medienkompetenz, sondern weist über die reine Vermittlung von Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten hinaus. Der Begriff erfasst sowohl die mediale Gestaltung unseres Alltags als auch die Anforderung an Kommuniktionsfähigkeiten, die medienvermittelt an uns gestellt sind sowie kulturelle Aspekte.

The Powerpoint Dozen - the written version I use Powerpoint in some of the workshops I run, not all, but when it suits the audience, venue and most importantly learning objectives. I have, on the other hand, been a participant where slides have been the 'star'! Slides that contained too much text in colours and sizes that were too hard to read and more bullets than Ned Kelly's last stand! That said, Powerpoint can have its place. So I've put together a list of 10(+1) tips for using Powerpoint more effectively.

I've been perfecting a very specific efficiency aspect of my workflow: taking notes during Skype calls. I use a Skype-in number as my primary phone number, and -- with permission -- record client calls for future reference. I can't tell you how many times this has come in handy. On long calls, though, going back and finding a specific point where something was mentioned can be a time-consuming hassle. What I wanted was the ability to record a Skype call while taking notes, and to then be able to reference my (abbreviated) notes back to the exact point where they were taken in the conversation.
