I chose this image to help illustrate the phrase, "Does that ring a bell?", which I used to use throughout my childhood. This image of a mug is an example of how the phrase can be used. Pavlov is a famous psychologist and scientist, and this mug begs the question, does this person (Pavlov) "ring a bell", or in other words sound familiar to you?

Hey All! My name is Beata and I am a junior at Penn State. I remember using the phrase "does that ring a bell?" often as a young child and into adolescence. Although I do not use it much these days, the phrase has an association to my childhood when interacting with peers, friends, and siblings. The phrase does not literally mean "do you hear [that sound] and does it ring like a bell, rather the phrase asks the person whether they recall a memory, or remember something. The bell sound is commonly associated to getting an idea or remembering something so it is appropriate that the phrase uses a bell. An example of this phrase may be asked when someone explains an experience or something learned and asks if you remember that by using the phrase.

You have a fun and solid theme throughout each page and have a good introduction to what the students should expect. There are minor spelling/grammar errors on the "lets celebrate" page but besides that the page looks energetic and the links are working well. All text is legible and writing seems to be on a 7th grade level. Your directions are clear and I assume your links that are in progress will be as well. I would be careful that the students don't get boggled down to mainly researching and reading about celebrations/art over more active activities. I would also add more images, but the pages are in progress so you may already have thought of this :). I really like your excursions page and idea. This is a good way for the students to keep learning even after they have finished the daily lessons early. Your titles and buttons also have clever names which is a great way to excite the students working on your site. From what I can see the students will often reflect and learn new material as they become more culturally aware. Great job!
As of yet, I can't find any Web 2.0 technologies or links, but many links/pages are still in progress and am assuming that they are just not ready to be put into the site. If decoration or greeting card links are web 2.0 based then awesome and the students can even write cards to each other! Just make sure you have one, like youtube or an art making program could be fun.
