I like how you Incorporated different media it will really get the kids thinking. Your site is good, just maybe needs a few more photos or something. You web sites suggested are good source of web 2.0 technologies. Your rubric is clear as well. I feel as though the learning is very age appropriate.

Your web quest looks like it is going to be great!
1.) I love the aesthetics of your website and how it blends Renaissance and Yola art.You might want to check some of the word choices to make sure they are eighth grade reading levels.
The timeline is a great idea and I think its going to really help the students understand the concepts better.

2.) Based on the Google Doc that you showed us, I believe that your task and process will definitely make your students think critically about the artwork and the connection between them. The use of discussion is great and will allow for some great feedback between students!

3.) I know that you are still working on you rubrics, but I love where you are going with them. The ideas of incorporating participation, work ethic, and their graded final piece are great ideas! Possibly you might want to critique them on their responses and reflections and give them a guideline that you would like to see on those.

4.) As of right now I don't see any Web 2.0 technologies in the web quest. But i did see on your google doc that you are planning on adding in Youtube videos. That will be a great addition tot he lesson. Your ideas of incorporating youtube videos and such is a great idea to help keep it interesting and different medias to teach the lesson. Perhaps you could also incorporate a blog to use for the reflections and responses so that the other students will be able to read each other's responses.

5.) I know from your Google Doc that you are incorporating discussion for the students to interact with students and artwork. Perhaps you could also incorporate a blog for your students to see each others responses. We are using the Phynxe for our blog on our website. It is an app on the wix website that you can add. Also maybe you could use picasa or another website to display the other students artwork.

Great Job! Can't wait to see what is to come!

    1. Visual design is great! I think the artwork is visually appealing and something new that many of the students probably have not seen before. I find the font somewhat difficult to read at that size with all of the swirly lettering. I would watch the language to be sure the students understand what you are saying. The one word that stuck out was "constitutes."

    2. Based on the information you provided in your google doc with the timeline for your task and process I think it will definitely facilitate critical and creative thinking. I love the idea of having them redesign a space they already know and make it into something all of their own. I believe this is something the students will be excited about and want to talk about with each other and see the different designs that their classmates developed as well.

    3. The rubrics are not complete yet, but the google.doc stated they will be evaluated on participation, work ethic, and final piece. These relate well to the goals of the web quest. I think you can also evaluate them on creativity/originality and neatness. You may also want to consider evaluating them on the grammar, etc. within their written responses.

    4. As of right now I did not notice any Web2.0 technologies, but it may be advantageous to incorporate a blog app into the site where they can post their responses for all to read and comment on. Jenna and I used the site called phynxe.com to create a blog within our website, so you may want to check that out. There are also some good links for having them upload their images as well.

    5. I know they are planning on having the students interact, share ideas and work, and comment on each others work to further explore their understanding of street art; however, it is currently not listed on the page.

I think that this seems like a pretty cool project, and something that the students will enjoy. Your links that you provide seem interesting, and I like the media that you use. Your introduction was attention grabbing and visually appealing. I'm interested in seeing the whole thing put together, because I think that it will turn out great.

We're using Popplet-- a great web 2.0. still trying to incorporate it in our website...It's easy to navigate and our students will be submitting their final project to us there. Other students will be able to comment on their image with just one click.

Great lesson! We studied graffiti earlier this quarter and the students seemed to enjoy it. Students should be comfortable with your lesson's content and find it interesting as it builds on their previous exploration of street art by adding a photography and collage component.

Suggestions: Students cannot go outside unless the entire class goes outside with my supervision. You may want to revise this suggestion. Students may not need four days to complete the project. Providing a street art collage example would likely help students envision the project better.

    Hello Jennifer,
We just had a couple questions/ wanted your feedback on a couple of revisions. We were wondering if we should assign them to take pictures outside as a homework assignment and they can do it at home and then upload the images. Do all students have access to cameras at home? Or would it be possible to have you take the entire class outside for a period to take pictures?

We were also thinking about turning this project into a series and having them create 3 different collages, with an overall theme that ties them all together? What are your thoughts on this idea? We were also going to upload a few pictures of our examples as well. Thanks for the feedback!
