This site has quick videos (around three minutes or less) that explain things in very simple terms. They use paper cut outs as they explain about technology, money, etc. I know that Barb has used these in our class. I didn't realize there were so many. When I looked at some of them, I thought about the 21st Century learner and how teachers might use these videos with students to help them learn about finances. They can be used personally for free or professionally for a fee. Teachers would have to be careful not to infringe on copyright issues, but this would be a nice way to introduce many concepts to students.

I love the Common Craft products, too! Every time I watch one of the videos, I'm amazed at the clarity of the explanation! They are able to take very complex tools, and make them seem simple. I think one of the best things about this is that they provide a "conceptual" look at the tool, rather than simply a "how to use it" video. For me, I often find myself experimenting with how to use a tool, before I really even understand conceptually what the tool is and what it can do! (A clear example of the many times when I don't know what I don't know!) This Common Craft site is one that I will bookmark, and return to often.

This site gave me even more information about Web 2.0 tools and how they could be used. Anything available information is good for me because I still need all the help that I can get.

This site is a great resource for Web 2.0 tools. Down the left side you click on the type of tools you want to find; presentation, collaboration, research, audio, and many, many more. Then it gives you a list of tools that fits that particular criteria

This site has tutorials relating to many Web 2.0 tools. It breaks the tools/ applications down into different categories which is helpful .

Great website for reading resources.

I am using this resource to help me implement a new 90 minute reading block in my classroom this year. It gives resources for use with parents as well as things to use in your classroom. There are printable schedules and activities for use in planning and teaching reading.

Glogster.com - Poster yourself - Make your interactive poster easily and share it with friends. Mix Images, Text, Music and Video. It is fantastic!

This looks great! I heard about Glogster last year from one of my students, and am determined to learn how to use it this summer. My plan is to incorporate the use of Glogster in a class I teach this year, in place of a very traditional assignment to create a poster that captures students' greatest "ahas" from the class. This will not only create a better product- because of the links, video, audio etc., but will expose class members to a tool they may not have heard of.

Tons of links to technology resources.

WOW, there are so many links on this page. This resource would be helpful for anyone who is interested in using technology in their classroom. I was most interested in the fact that some of the sites were already ear-marked for use with smart boards. Some of the sites were practice sites for kids to use at home. I will be adding those to my parent wiki once school starts.

I am also very happy to see all the activities involving smart boards. Our district is purchasing them for many of our classrooms and I will share this resource with staff next month!

This is a site that provides step-by-step guidance on creating project-based learning units. It not only gives the rationale behind PBL as a unit design model, but also guides the user through each step of the creation process. It appears to be very easy to use, and provides information at each step that ensures a quality product. In addition to the very clear steps to take, as well as the 'theory' behind each step, there are numerous examples of completed PBL projects to view. I will use this site myself, as I really like the idea of redesigning portions of my instruction using this model. I will also direct teachers to it when we are discussing teaching strategies and instructional design models that are compatible with how the brain learns. The "briefs" and the literature reviews for each of the Characteristics of Effective Instruction (within the Iowa Core) contain numerous references to project/problem- based learning as an instructional design model that matches the vision of the Iowa Core.

Lots of pictures of animals to use in projects. Once you click on a particular bird or animal, it pulls all pictures of that animal from Flickr's Creative Commons.

This website will introduce people, who are caring for young children, to the Public TV series, A Place of Our Own/Los Ninos En Su Casa. On here, you will find includes extensive resources including episode summaries and instructions for featured activities and recipes. I will be using this website for training purposes.

Dr Laura Riffel, expert in Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports provides everything for FREE to persons who access her site. This includes tools, stratgies, ideas, supports, and BLOG TALk RADIO (blogging with video and audio) about PBIS. The site provides resources for parents, teachers, administrators and students (about anyone who works with people with challenging behaviors). Both myself and my colleagues have attended one of her seminars and incorparate her teachings into our building. I have been tapping into her resources for several to use positive behavior interventions to work with our behavior focus students instead of the typical punishment system in place in most schools. I have also shared this resource with parents and paraprofessionals to help provide them with the tools to work with theor students. A great resource and easy to use for persons with limited background in behavior anaylsis and behavior modification training.
