Demonstrate vocabulary, emotions, compare/contrast. Use a photo as a prompt for narrative or descriptive writing. Students take pictures of each other and import them into a word processing document for an "About the Author" page in a student anthology. .Use the digital camera to take photos of students then incorporate the photos into interviews written by other students in the class. (Students are assigned someone to interview and write about.)

Glogster is a great Web 2.0 tool that I am using for the second year in my classes. Glogs are essentially online posters that allow users to display information in a different format than the traditional poster or powerpoint. Users can upload pictures, video, and audio, or they search glogster's database for relevant images, etc.

I like to use photos with various guidance and counseling lessons. This site has some great animal pictures. I had a subscription for the magazine at one time and like it. The benefit for me now is the photos are easily accessible and I can choose which ones would work best at a particular time.

This tool allows your images to "talk" in that you upload pictures, choose where you want to place a mouth and then choose your audio (phone, microphone, etc). Easy to use with laptop microphone. Great for word study, kids that need audio with text. Fun!
