Lots of pictures of animals to use in projects. Once you click on a particular bird or animal, it pulls all pictures of that animal from Flickr's Creative Commons.

Journal Writing. Classroom newspapers. Autobiographies.Insert student photos in a biographical poem. A great way to start off
the year and get to know your students. Demonstrate vocabulary, emotions, compare/contrast. Use a photo as a prompt for narrative or descriptive writing. Students take pictures of each other and import them into a word processing document for an "About the Author" page in a student anthology. .Use the digital camera to take photos of students then incorporate the photos into interviews written by other students in the class. (Students are assigned someone to interview and write about.)
Great tool for researching any famous actresses, musicians, politicans, sports or historical figures based on the biographies shown on t.v. Some biographies have videos as well as text and pictures.
Glogster EDU is your original educational resource for innovative and interactive learning. Glogster EDU was conceived to imaginatively, productively, and collaboratively respond to the dynamic educational landscape and exceed the needs of today’s educators and learners.
Glogster is a great Web 2.0 tool that I am using for the second year in my classes. Glogs are essentially online posters that allow users to display information in a different format than the traditional poster or powerpoint. Users can upload pictures, video, and audio, or they search glogster's database for relevant images, etc.
I like to use photos with various guidance and counseling lessons. This site has some great animal pictures. I had a subscription for the magazine at one time and like it. The benefit for me now is the photos are easily accessible and I can choose which ones would work best at a particular time.
This tool allows your images to "talk" in that you upload pictures, choose where you want to place a mouth and then choose your audio (phone, microphone, etc). Easy to use with laptop microphone. Great for word study, kids that need audio with text. Fun!
