A pretty standard Apple-o-getic (ah ah) blog post. How many times does the guy say 'I like Apple'?
Anyway, I'm having a hard time understanding the point he is trying to make. Apple should open up its innovation? It shouldn't because they are so hip, cool, a 'unique company' and an 'exception to the rule'? Mah..
I think the point is the guy bashes the "open innovation theory" (whatever the theory is) with his main argument being that Apple is not open and at the same time very successful.
this guy is actually one of the most fervent supporters of open innovation and tries to promote it whereever he can ... his problem is that at least at first view Apple does not confirm his theory ...
lol, the 'about' page is priceless bullshit:

"Corporate Mind Exchange (CMX) events in which corporate innovation leaders discuss relevant challenges and issues. No academics, consultants or start-ups; just corporate practitioners."
We are doing it wrong, Leo. We don't need no stinking Universities!
"Network groups in which 12-20 innovation leaders from different companies meet 4-6 times annually to discuss challenges and issues. Workshops and events with thought leaders and practitioners."
What the hell are "innovation/thought leaders"?
A bad workman blames his tools...
P.S. Polish version of this proverb is much nicer, and says that poor ballet dancer blames her skirt... but it's nothing compared to the Russian version, which says about a male ballet dancer who blames his... well, guess yourselves...
To Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors, and Review Editors for the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5)
"I would also like to emphasize that enhanced media interest in the work of the IPCC would
probably subject you to queries about your work and the IPCC. My sincere advice would be that
you keep a distance from the media and should any questions be asked about the Working Group
with which you are associated, please direct such media questions to the Co-chairs of your
Working Group and for any questions regarding the IPCC to the secretariat of the IPCC."
and an amusing related memo on how to deal with reporters if you can't avoid them. I particularly enjoyed the list of words that mean one thing to scientists and something else to other people.

i agree. however, (and perhaps it would have been useful to post my source which didn't seem so interesting at the time) the contents of this particular memo seems to have been interpreted as a more or less direct consequence of "ClimateGate" rather than standard practice.
http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/14/what-we-talk-about-when-we-talk-about-climate-change/
On the other hand, I'd suggest that talking to the press is not necessarily a great way of educating the public, there being some truth i think to the contents of the memo.
well compare to ESA it's sure it doesn't seem weird. Imagine one second a journal article about climate change: "We contacted Dr. X of the IPCC, who refused to answer to our questions..."
this is not what the memo recommends ... it just says speak only about what you can confidently speak about and refer to others for other questions ...
Great, just great!! The conclusion seems to be "Thus IBMT could provide a means for improving self-regulation and perhaps reducing or preventing various mental disorders." Why all this neuro-bio-nonsense?? Wasn't this conclusion known before just using good old classic psychology and similar? Again one of these studies that thinks to provide new evidence just because they made a boring brain scan...
Video about Higher dimensions
This is my first post - hope it works.
This is one of fav vids. Maybe you have seen already, but for those who haven't, you should find it interesting.
Interesting - apparently in the future (already in the US) you dont have to have someones address to send them presents, cards or goods. All you need is to be friends with them on facebook!!!
