Days Like This… | alytapp - 0 views

I asked students to write in Google Docs and then share their papers with me so I would also be able to view them online. Instead of scribbling marks in the margins of printed papers, I opened each student's paper in Google Docs, highlighted text and inserted comments to clarify my thoughts, and then turned on the screen recorder (Jing) to record my voice as I scrolled through the paper and pointed to items with my mouse. Right after recording, I uploaded the finished recording to Jing's companion hosting site, and then I simply copied and pasted the link to the recording directly into the Google Doc. It was slick like butter.

Overcoming the email obstacle for student Google Docs accounts | Digital Learning Environments - 0 views

  •
The problem is that to have a Google Docs account, you need an email address.  You need it to verify your Google Docs account.  Most elementary and some middle school students don't have email addresses and their parents may not want them to have one.  Mailcatch.com is a disposable email address service.  You create an email address by just using it.  Then you go to mailcatch.com and retrieve any emails sent to it.  In a few hours, the email disappears.  You can't send email from it and you can return to it to get recovery password emails.

Google Student Blog: Student Tip: Use Google Docs and Calendar to Import Class Syllabi - 1 views

  •
So you probably all already know that Google Calendar is a lifesaver when it comes to organizing classes. The problem, though, is that sometimes professors don't create a Calendar-ready syllabus for us! Don't fret - here I'll share how I've managed to harness the power of Google Docs to streamline a Calendar for each of my classes, so hopefully you can do the same. Start by loading the template located at http://bit.ly/importtemplate, then rename it to correspond to the name of the class syllabus you're working on. Leaving the header row, fill in the assignment and due date, as well as the time.

  • Another feature of the Google Docs Viewer Website mentioned above is that you can create your own URLs that point to files online, and send them to others so they can instantly view the file by clicking the link. Just make the first part of the URL read as follows: http://Docs.google.com/viewer?url= Then add the URL of the file straight afterwards, including the http:// component. If I wanted somebody to be able to view the Microsoft Word file located at http://keirthomas.com/dump/testfile.docx, for example, I'd send them the following URL: http://Docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://keirthomas.com/dump/testfile.docx

Equivelent of "COUNTIFS" function in excel - Google Docs Help - 0 views

  •
I am trying to count cells based on multiple criteria from multiple cell ranges using google docs.  In Excel the formula is simply: =COUNTIFS(S2:S26, "IN", E2:E26, "A") This would select all of the cells with the word "IN" and the Letter "A" in the same corresponding row.  Can anyone help me figure out a workaround for not being able to use the "countifs" function in google spreadsheet?
