Google Docs and new feature - "Discussions" - 0 views

  •
"If you haven't noticed, or if have not created a new Google Doc in a few days, you should. The brilliant folks on the Google Docs team are at it again. This time, they have enhanced the way in which you can add collaborators and work together on projects. To date, the annotating and commenting features were a little limited, and not very helpful. This new addition creates a whole new 'layer' to how you can interact with Google Docs."

"That's all changing, thanks to a new website I learned about recently--Symbaloo. This is the ultimate way to organize websites, and the best part is that it's visually appealing! Perfect for me!! I can organize the resources in different folders by adding new tabs at the top of the page. If you really want to be OCD about organizing, you can even color-code your resources!!"

Sketchcast - 0 views

  •
"Sketchcasting is a new way to communicate something online by recording a sketch, optionally with your voice speaking. Any sketch can then be embedded on your blog/ homepage for people to play-back, and you can also point people to your sketchcast channel here (or let them subscribe to your sketchcast RSS feed). Sketchcasting is new but it's based on an old principle: the whiteboard (or the napkin in a bar) on which you sketch something to get a concept across... or to just have some fun. "

YouTube brings interactive quizzes to videos with Questions Editor beta -- Engadget - 0 views

  •
"Feel like something's missing from your YouTube viewing experience -- like some good 'ol multiple-choice questions? The chronic learners among us will be happy to hear that the site is testing an interactive -- and potentially educational -- feature that lets users add quizzes to their clips. A new page on the YouTube site describes a "Video Questions Editor Beta," which lets channel owners display multiple-choice questions on top of their videos as they play. The page is pretty blank at the moment, but the beta is up and running for those who opt in. Don't get too excited, though: YouTube's disclaimer states the feature "represents work in progress," and "there is no plan for long-term support of the feature." TechCrunch 29 Leave A Comment "

10 Tips You Need to Know About Mac Preview - 0 views

  • File -> New from Clipboard, or press cmd+N.
  • Finally, to merge two PDF files, just open one file and drag another in Preview’s thumbnail sidebar.

What a great way to merge pdfs!
  • Using smart lasso, click in an area and slightly drag your mouse in any direction to specify the amount of tolerance that should be used in marking out the boundaries of that area’s selection. You can then copy that selection to your clipboard and create a new document as outlined above, or press backspace to make that part of your image transparent.

Again most of us use some of the annotation elements. Did you know that the smart lasso was one of them?
  • Built-In Version History In later versions of Mac OS X, Preview comes with built-in version support. This means you can go back in time and go through a number of different iterations of your file, Time Machine-style. To do so, go to File -> Revert To -> Browse All Versions, or press the little disclosure triangle next to a file’s name in the title bar and select Browse All Versions.

xtimeline - Explore and Create Free Timelines - 0 views

  •
Added by Katie Lepi on 2013-05-03 56 Creating custom timelines is an age old school project, especially for history classes (since history is basically a giant timeline, after all!) Way back in the day, when I was a student, I remember drawing out my timelines with colored pencils on pieces of taped together construction paper (to make the line long enough). We've come a long way since the late '80′s, and there are a lot of web tools and apps out there that help users make much more advanced timelines than I could crank out with my awesome colored pencils. Whether you're using them to chronicle well known historical events, or your own personal history, these tools can bring together audio, video, photos, text, and more to showcase a well rounded, multimedia timeline to tell your story. Time Toast timetoast Time Toast also offers uses free, unlimited timelines and easy Facebook integration. The interface is extremely simple - just click 'add an event', and you can add text, links, or photos. While it doesn't offer some of the audio/video options that some of the other products we mention in this post do, it offers a lot more simplicity. Of note, there are a number of ads on the site - which can be expected with a free tool - but just something to keep in mind. Meograph meograph Meograph's tagline is 'Four Dimensional Storytelling'. It offers a simple interface that allows users to combine news, history, travels, life events, photos, videos, audio, etc to create a multifaceted timeline. It offers easy sharing options and a web based interface. Users can purchase usage by the class with three different options starting at $19.99. Capzles capzles Capzles is similar to Meograph in that it allows users to integrate information from a variety of different sources (video, audio, photos, text, etc) into one multifaceted timeline. Free to join, Capzles is also working on an Indiegogo project that will allow them to develop a similar tool th
