Photoscape is a free software which you can download. This software has many uses but the one which I really like is the ability to create photo collages and add speech bubbles. It would be interesting to hear how others would use this software. It is great for creating Digital Storytelling, comics, digital multimodal products and collages.

Pencil is an animation/ drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation ( cartoon ) using both bitmap and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source. it requires download.

Odosketch is another cool tool that lets you create great looking sketches for free. It requires a sign up.

Chogger is simple platform where you can use different tools to  create awesome drawings. It is free and web based.  Requires flash

Virtual field trips challenge and expose students to new types of technology. It is a great way to spark their interest and motivate their learning in a specific content area.
