App.net aims to be the backbone of the social web through infrastructure that developers can use to build applications and that members can use for meaningful interactions. App.net launched in August of 2012. It's owned and operated by Mixed Media Labs.

Wappalyzer is an add-on for Firefox that uncovers the technologies used on websites. It detects CMS and e-commerce systems, message boards, JavaScript frameworks, hosting panels, analytics tools and more.
Dragontape is webapp that enables you to create mixtapes of your favorite online videos, so you can watch them as a continuous show. The tapes you create are accessed through a single URL, so you can easily share with friends or embed them in a webpage. The source clips remain in their original locations, Dragontape simply remembers where to find them.
Tornado is an open source version of the scalable, non-blocking web server and tools that power FriendFeed. The FriendFeed application is written using a web framework that looks a bit like web.py or Google's webapp, but with additional tools and optimizations to take advantage of the underlying non-blocking infrastructure.

But with more than 600,000 apps in the U.S. Store alone, it's hard to have a good sense of what's there. Otto is about discovery, not search; with Otto, the Store is organized so that you can walk down its aisles, and get an overview of all the cool stuff that's there.
