"The third Call for Proposals under the Intra-ACP academic mobility scheme has been launched, with a deadline of 10 June 2013. The intra-ACP academic mobility scheme supports higher education cooperation between countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP). The scheme aims to promote sustainable development and poverty alleviation by increasing the availability of trained and qualified high-level professional manpower in the ACP countries. "The European Commission is widening its search for experts from all fields to participate in shaping the agenda of Horizon 2020, the European Union's future funding programme for research and innovation. The experts of the advisory groups will provide high quality and timely advice for the preparation of the Horizon 2020 calls for project proposals. The Commission services plan to set up a certain number of Advisory Groups covering the Societal Challenges and other specific objectives of Horizon 2020. To reach the broadest range of individuals and actors with profiles suited to contribute to the European Union's vision and objectives for Horizon 2020, including striving for a large proportion of newcomers, and to gain consistent and consolidated advice of high quality, the Commission is calling for expressions of interest with the aim of creating lists of high level experts that will participate in each of these groups. "

A new Call for Proposals under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility scheme was launched, with a deadline of 15 June 2016.

"Europe's most visible forum for ICT research and innovation, ICT2013, will take place from 6-8 November 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The ICT 2013 event will be the first opportunity to learn the details of research funding for ICT-related projects under Horizon 2020, the EU's new research program for 2014-2020. The European Commission proposed an €80 billion package for research & innovation funding, as part of the drive to create sustainable growth and new jobs in Europe. Horizon 2020 will support the development of ICT in Science (in future and emerging technologies or e-Infrastructures); in industrial leadership (such as smart systems, robotics, photonics, etc.) and in societal challenges (such as eHealth, eGovernment and eSkills)."

You could benefit from up to USD 80,000 funding and exchange germplasm, innovative knowledge, and technology with counterparts at Embrapa, Brazil, learning from each other's approaches to increase agricultural productivity. Pre-proposals are due to the Africa--Brazil Marketplace (http://www.mktplace.org) by 28th February 2013 and require only short two page project descriptions."

"In the presence of the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to the African Union (AU), Amb.Gary Quince, and the AU Commissioner Jean-Pierre Ezin, the second set of research grants resulting from the AU's 2nd call for proposals was officially signed at the AU Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 17th December 2012. This call led to the selection of eleven projects in the areas of Agriculture, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, and Water and Sanitation, for a total amount of €7 million."

On a regular basis, the AQUAEXCEL project invites proposals from European research groups for scientific research that utilises the facilities of any of the participating Aquaculture Research Infrastructures. The AQUAEXCEL project unites major aquaculture experimental facilities with capacity to undertake experimental trials on a selection of commercially important fish aquaculture species and system types. These facilities are made available to the research community for Transnational Access (TNA) with the support of the European Union 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (Infrastructures). The facilities available cover the entire range of production systems (recirculation, flow‐through, cage, hatchery and pond systems); environments (freshwater and marine, cold, temperate and warm water); scales (small, medium and industrial scale); fish species (salmon, trout, sea bass, sea bream, cod, common carp etc.); and fields of expertise (nutrition, physiology, health and welfare, genetics, engineering, monitoring and management technologies).

The Agropolis Foundation in France engages in research on food and crop systems in the world's North and South. The present call for proposals will fund training and higher education in the theme "agronomy for sustainable development." The lead proponent should be from a research unit belonging to the Foundation's scientific network (Labex Agro).

Al Idrisi II is a program of short-term academic mobility for nationals of Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and the European Union. The program supports undergraduate, doctoral, post-doctoral, and staff mobility. The "International Cooperation Cells" define subject areas that include salinization of agricultural soils, non-conventional sources of irrigation water for olive growing, environment and renewable energy, and many others across the sciences and humanities. The application deadline is 12 January 2016.
