    The Drexel college Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine is an effective coaching and support circle program that was written up by Mary Beckerle at Utah….Bruce Alberts had shared this work with me when I spoke with him about collaboration, so it’s a program that has gained attention of some of science's more vocal leaders.  NIH has some emerging training and development programs lead by Sharon Milgram in their Office of Intramural Training as well -- my take is that collaboration, or at least interest in interpersonal communication, toolsets for support, and group work are beginning to show up in these domains.


    From their website (http://www.drexelmed.edu/Home/OtherPrograms/ExecutiveLeadershipinAcademicMedicine/AboutELAM.aspx): ELAM's year-long program develops the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in today's complex healthcare environment, with special attention to the unique challenges facing women in leadership positions. Nearly 700 senior women leaders have participated in the program since 1995. ELAM alumnae make up 25 percent of the executive positions in academic medicine and dentistry that are held by women. ELAM® is a core program of the Institute for Women's Health and Leadership® at Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa. The Institute continues the legacy of advancing women in medicine that began in 1850 with the founding of the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania, the nation's first women's medical school and a predecessor of today's Drexel University College of Medicine.

    I notice that the noisebridge space is surfacing at several places and connected to people that I know that are involved in the Open Science movement. I don't know what it's about that much - but I've been impressed with the people I've met who are involved.

Tribal Leadership - Leveraging Natural Groups to Build a Thriving Organization - 0 views

    Tribal leadership has a triad structure for support. The idea is to have that team of people to pull one out of self-talk as a necessary tool for keeping oneself 'in possibility' - also David Logan and colleagues have a hierarchy of group development, where the highest level is defined as success of all - at a level of thriving.

    Tribal leadership has a very active LinkedIn Group, blogs and webinars. They use a triad structure for accountability and support. They also have a very interesting assessment for group evolution. I will try to post a picture of their group assessments.
