Tech Tools for Teachers | Integrating Technology in the Primary Classroom - 11 views

  • Tech Tools for Teachers WEEKLY EMAIL NEWSLETTER I am currently collaborating with a fellow teacher, Simon Collier on a free weekly e-mail that we will distribute throughout the year. Each week the email features a useful online tool or website for teachers to use in their classroom. The purpose of this email is to publicise and promote the use of ICT tools and web links to teachers who are not regularly sourcing the available information on the net.  This in turn, hopefully increasing the use of the wonderful education tools available online. The email is suitable for both primary and secondary teachers and we provide practical examples of how the tool or website could be integrated into the classroom curriculum.

How A Classroom Of iPads Changed My Approach To Learning - Edudemic - 5 views

  •
"By recognizing that our prior experience with ICT had created paradigms that constrained our thinking, we are starting to glimpse new learning opportunities made possible by one-to-one integration of iPads. Rather than viewing iPads as substitutes for other technologies (including paper), it is our view that iPads can be used as tools and environments for learning that allow for deeper and more diverse engagements.  Our journey with iPads in learning continues."

thought control. - 0 views

  • What is a “rich task”? A rich task involves both process and product, following an inquiry-based model of learning. Students learn large amounts of new content, develop important skills and develop in interdisciplinary learning. This includes personal-management, interpersonal development, communication, ICT and particularly in thinking. Usually a “rich task” might be classified as a term’s worth of learning under the guise of “integrated studies”, but a rich task could be equally as applicable in literacy and mathematics programs (or indeed any other area of learning). Here are some key areas that I think people need to consider when aiming to plan rich tasks:

The final round of government funding is currently being distributed to schools all around Australia. So far over 967,000 computers have been bought, infrastructure built and (most) teachers up-skilled to benefit from the acquisition. But as the funds come to an end, many school principals are wondering if the process has been beneficial, and how can they continue to support and progress the Digital Education Revolution?

  •
Have you ever felt that your online students needed more direction on how to approach a discussion board? Have you thought that with just a bit more assistance students would really engage in the forum and take it to the next level, rather than just do the minimum required to get points?

How To Address Negative Student Behavior in 1:1 Classrooms | Edudemic - 0 views

  •
I strongly believe that technology is going to completely revolutionize the classroom. But when are we going to start addressing the negative aspects of the one-to-one classroom? When are we going to acknowledge the fact that just because every student has a device it does not mean that they will get a 36 on the ACT? I have seen videos of babies that can play with an iPad, but that does not mean that high school students intuitively know how to use one to effectively collaborate and communicate in the classroom.
