Today, Shares of telecom operators were little changed in early trade after the Mukesh Ambani -led Reliance Jio Infocomm launched its much-awaited 4G service on yesterday, setting the stage for intense competition in the burgeoning $50 billion local telecom industry.

Mid and small caps rose 0.74 percent each. Sensex is up 0.09 percent or 24 points and trading at 28,188. Nifty is up 0.04 percent or 4 points and trading at 8,429. Banks, IT and Oil & gas are down. Telecom and Auto shares are high.

RCom - "Reliance Communications" is going to talk with shareholders of telecom operator Aircel for a potential merger of the wireless or mobile businesses for both of the companies. The idea is to mutually derive estimated substantial benefits of in-country consolidation, including operating expenditure (opex) & capital expenditure synergies & revenue enhancement, RCom told in a statement.
