Sensex and Nifty both high and record high : 31/10/2014

The 30-share index was trading at 24,590, up by 120 pts or 0.49 per-cent. Barley Trading - Barley prices ended high by 0.91 per-cent on yesterday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of strong demand from beer and cattle-feed making industries against restricted supply in physical markets.

After a strong Tuesday, the day saw a stable close today. Gaining 128 points, the Sensex ended at day's high while the Nifty added 34.35 points to close at 5818.60. Overall, the market remained in narrow trading range. Steady European markets also boosted sentiments in India. Gainers of the day were Sterlite Industries (up 4.7 percent), Hindalco (up 3.4 percent) and Tata Motors (up 2.9 percent). Star of the market was high beta stocks like realty and infra. Kanoria Chemicals & Industries is currently trading at Rs 36.50, up by 0.40 points or 1.11% from its previous closing of Rs 36.10 on the BSE.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 40.85 on 14-Dec-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 28.90 on 31-Jul-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 37.90 and Rs 34.85 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 165.24 crore.

Gold prices in domestic futures tested historical highs in absolute as well as in percentage terms as MCX Gold rallied towards high 35074 per 10 gms on 28th August 2013 which is almost Rs. 7000/10 gms or 25% higher than last month close of 28207/10 gms.

BSE midcap index has managed to close at a record high. BSE Midcap Index closed with 1.3 per cent gain at 10952.93 levels. Capital goods, pharmaceuticals, banking and power stocks had buying trend. Sensex closed at 29459 level with a gain of 97.5 points. Nifty closed at the level of 8956.7 with a gain of 55 points.

Today, Nifty 50 was at 7,746, went down 78 pts or 1 per-cent. It reached a high of 7,764.55 & a low of 7,741.20 in the first 30 mins of trade. While the 30-share index was trading at 25,619, down 247 pts or 0.96 per-cent. It reached a high of 25,724.09 and a low of 25,590.96 in morning trade.

Commodity tips - The US dollar stood around 1-week high of 123.33 japanese yen, a safe-haven currency usually sought in times of geopolitical tension. The dollar also stood tall in against with the Swiss franc, another safe-haven, after advancing to an 8-month high.

The Nifty - 50 was at 7,779, up by 47 pts or 0.62 per-cent. It reached a high of 7,792.55 & then a low of 7,768.50 in the early 30 minutes of trade. The 30-share index was trading at 25,645, went up 162 pts or 0.64 per-cent. It reached a high of 25,680.76 and a low of 25,616.33 in morning session. BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.84 per-cent higher & the S&P BSE Midcap Index went up 0.77 %.

Market updates : The Sensex was trading at 25,681, went down 204 pts or 0.79 per-cent. It attained a high of 26,810.06 and a low of 25,644.35 in early morning trade. The Nifty50 was at 7,801, went down 62 pts or 0.80 per-cent. It attained a high of 7,819.25 & a low of 7,787.70 in the first 30 mins of trade.
