Welcome to Android | Android Open Source - 0 views

  •
Android is an open-source software stack for mobile devices, and a corresponding open-source project led by Google. We created Android in response to our own experiences launching mobile apps. We wanted to make sure that there was no central point of failure, so that no industry player can restrict or control the innovations of any other.

Overview - PlayN - Google Developers - 0 views

  •
PlayN is an open-source cross-platform abstraction layer that uses the GWT compiler to take one code base written in Java and compile it into targets that run it as HTML5, Flash, Java, or as a native Android application. The PlayN architecture uses a service-provider interface pattern, meaning that the core contains a core set of APIs that have separate implementations for each target. Using PlayN all platform-specific calls are eliminated from your source code, and that one codebase can be compiled into multiple output implementations by writing tiny, targeted entry point classes that hook into each platform-specific implementation.

Google Refine is a power tool for cleaning up raw data, making it consistent, linking it to data registries like Freebase, augmenting it with more data from other data sources, transforming it into the required format for other tools to consume, and contributing it back to some data sources like Freebase. Google Refine is not a web service but a desktop app that runs on your own computer, so you can process sensitive data with privacy.

Voice Search is an open source Google Chrome extension I made that allows you to search by speaking. For example, just click on microphone and say kittens to search for kittens. If you specifically want pictures of kittens, say google images kittens. Want to learn more about World War II? Say wikipedia world war two. The source code for Voice Search is on GitHub.

This site aims to remain short and condensed information about not-so obvious beta features (which hopefully be replaced by improved user interface so they become obvious and intuitive, so you do not need a wiki to use it.) For a more extensive and detailed documentation look at the Google+ collaborative documentation. The information here is either from Google insiders, G+ users or discovered by the page authors. The source of the information is noted on direct quotes. If you think some information is uncredited and it is yours or you know the source, please contact the page authors.
