  For Diigo messaging, is it necessary for a Diigo following to be mutual?
  
  If so: what happens if one person stops following the other — can messaging in either direction continue?

  Why can't I send a message to a person that started following me? I just wanted to say hello, because I believe we have common friends ..... but I can not.
