2. for that type of personalised meta view without manually editing the URL, visit your network immediately after bookmarking the item
— the bookmark will be at, or near the surface — in the /network/ context, Diigo always assumes that a click on the title of the bookmark deserves a meta view.
Partial workaround: whilst http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fqueue.acm.org%2Fdetail.cfm%3Fid%3D1563874 allows you to comment in the lower part of Diigo Meta, the version of Diigolet that's subtly within the upper part is read-only.

http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fqueue.acm.org%2Fdetail.cfm%3Fid%3D1563874?uname=alexpopescu&tab=comment

Refocusing on Diigolet: agreed, it's preferable to have the ability to highlight etc..
