  At for example http://www.diigo.com/profile/common/brasst the
  chevron to the left of

  does work.

  The other three chevrons are ineffective.
  
  = Workaround =
  
  Click the words to the side of the contract/expand chevron. However, this is non-intuitive:
  
  * when aiming to contract something, the first thing I aim for is the (chevron) contraction icon.
  
  (I'd be more likely to aim for the words, to *expand* what's beneath, if a section is contracted by default.)
