I chose this site because of its awareness on how to properly teach kids how to surf the web. This website discusses the importance of parents/teachers communicating with children to make sure that they understand the rules and laws of surfing the web.The site also discusses cyberbulling and the signs to recognize if children are being abused online. This is a very good website for a teacher to use to communicate with the students and their parents. With the popularity of Facebook and the ability to connect to it from iPads to desktops, it only makes sense to use it for a classroom communication tool. I did a quick search for classrooms, and specifically special education classrooms on Facebook and found numerous pages from all over the world. By using a Facebook page for the class, parents can see what the days lessons were as well as homework and pictures of the day or week. Messages can also be sent to the entire group or individuals as well as other teachers in the department.

TED.com's slogan is "ideas worth sharing" There's lots of different topics to choose from, and the people at these TED conferences are from all over the world so you really get a good perspective of global thinking.
This is a great way for teachers to communicate with students, parents and other teachers. It allows the teacher to post a calendar of events, announcements, and homework assignments in a way that parents an students can view the information from anywhere that they have internet access. It also allows them to view ideas from other teachers and share their ideas with teachers. The site has a search bar that searches your topic in only educational websites as well.
Parents and students can also choose to be notified each time that their teacher makes a change to the webpage, making it easier for them to stay in tuned to what is happening in class.

It has lesson plan ideas sorted by subject area and even emergency lessons for substitutes to keep students engaged. As a beginning professional, you can look at tips on how to write a lesson plan and improve it as well.
