Parent Teacher Network is a great way for teachers to communicate with parents. They can create a group and have forums, discussions, mass emails, and announcements set up for that group. This gives the parents and the teacher a specific line of communication so that messages can get across.

This website meets standard 6.8 because it explores technology available. Kids Know It has many different resources available for different subjects. Some of the resources are educational music, educational movies, podcasts and games that will help students to learn assigned material.

Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. Never email yourself a file again!

Dropbox is a favorite of mine. It is easy to use and a life saver if you ever forget your jump drive.

This Website is actually the home of one of the other websites I found (posted earlier for Standard 6.1) with games and wanted to share it, because it has several other links and more information on teaching with technology as well as links to several games available on the internet.

ABC ya! is a great website to incorporate technology in your classroom. This website includes fun games and enrichment activities for Elementary schools Kindergarten through fifth grade. After a student has completed their assignment, they can log on to this site and do grade based activities that are fun and educational. All of these games are free to play.

All children's educational computer activities were created or approved by certified school teachers. All educational games are free and are modeled from primary grade lessons and enhanced to provide an interactive way for children to learn.

ABCYa.com is an interactive children's website, loaded with fun games and activities to help children learn and practice reading, math, grammar, spelling, history, geography and more. This site is free and there are tons of games to choose from, and you choose the grade level to play them at. At the end of each game the easy to read results give you a clear understanding of how you did in the game and where you need more practice at. I will be introducing this site to my own children, and will incorporate it into my classroom for my students as well. I highly recommend this site.

The Library of Congress Online offers a Teacher's Resource page that provides self-paced modules for professional development with completion certificate awarded, links to classroom materials that meet the educational standards of each state, lesson plans, a blog for teachers, and much more. I recommend completing the Introduction to the Library of Congress Module under Professional Development as a starting point.
