      Wow! I could really use something like this to stay organized. I work from home on the internet and it is amazing how time flies. Before I know it the day is gone and I'm crawling into bed at midnight with 10 things left undone on that "to do" list scribbled on a scrap of paper somewhere on my desk.

      Hi Dennis, Content: I have provided numerous floating messages on your website, but I wanted to say that your unit was very informative. You used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: It appears your technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive learning experience. You used many Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and iGoogle. You also included a tool called SurveyMonkey, which could be used easily as an assessment tool. Instructional Strategies: I see that you used research and video to assist you in teaching the content. You also utilized many tools that would allow for students to learn from each other. Assessment: I do feel that you could have used some assessment tools for the assignments that could have guided the students and provided an overall analysis of their learning. Objectives would have also guided the learners and revealed some expectations. Overall, I think you had a simple yet informative unit. I would recommend a little more development in the areas of assessment and instructional strategies, but other than that, I think you did a good job. Mary

It appears that the creation of content of this sort is not foreign to you...lol. I loved your layout and usage of certain terms and concepts. You used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: It appears your technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive, elaborate, and challenging learning experience. You used many Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Blogger. You also included Delicious, RSS Feed, Go to Meeting, and Google Docs. Outstanding. Instructional Strategies: Your strategies reflect those of a Master who has covered this area before. There is collaboration, cooperation, discovery learning, independent study, incorporation of effective web-based tools,etc. I feel that you really embraced the learning theories that the professor requested. Great job. Assessment: I think you included a great deal of rubrics, self-reflection, and one thing I normally dont see, a "long-term" assessment and reflection in my opinion that measures the progress of the learner to make sure learning is occurring.       Hi Joshua, Content: I have provided numerous floating messages on your website, but I wanted to say that your unit fulfilled its focus of teaching teachers how to integrate technology, specifically, Web 2.0. You used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: It appears your technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive, elaborate, and challenging learning experience. You used many Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Google Docs. You also included Webspiration which utilizes a chat component to support collaboration. You have also incorporated Diigo and Zotero, the latter, I had never heard of so I have learned something quite new to incorporate into my curriculum, web-based or face to face. Finally, as a PLE, iGoogle was used. I have personally found this tool to be extremely helpful, for it supports organization, collaboration, easy access, and updated content. Instructional Strategies: Your strategies used appear to place the learning as the learner's responsibility. There are also collaborative exercises that could increase the various perspectives of content, thus introducing new ways to solve a problem,etc. Assessment: Although you have included surveys and included a blog, I felt that a rubric would have been appropriate to use as well for guidance and assessment. Other than that, the pre & post surveys are good opinionated measurements to assess student progress. Good job. Mary

      That is true, but that is also a problem I think occurs in discovery learning and goes back to whether or not the thinking matters or the fact that an individual arrived at the correct answer.

      Hi Content: The unit was very well-developed and informative. It appears to be focused on higher education. I loved the layout and usage of certain terms and concepts. I think I used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: The technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive, elaborate, and challenging learning experience. I used Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Google Calendar. I also included Delicious, Google Docs, Prezi, Camtasia, Picasa, Twitter, Ning,etc. Instructional Strategies: My strategies were reasonably okay. There is collaboration, cooperation, discovery learning, independent study, incorporation of effective web-based tools,etc. Assessment: I incorporated multiple assessment strategies, such as rubrics, surveys, and peer reviews. I feel that the tools used would provide an effective reflection of learning.

      Okay, thank you for the opportunity to answer the questions now. My three main NLE PLE strategies are: 1. Teamwork - using Elluminate to meet as a team in real time, using blog and voicethread for feedback, and using wiki page sites for team creation of product and presentation 2. Research - using Diigo and Delicious to share relevant discoveries and share information- at the same time creating PLE for study 3. Over-all strategy is to teach the principles by demonstrating how within the study and classwork so that they have an effective and powerful model and know how to integrate the technologies into their own lesson developments. The asessments are collaborative in nature and include self and peer assessments with an opportunity to revise work throughout. This allows for maximum learning.

      Three weaknesses: 1. Some data cannot be stored on the class wiki and will have to be housed separately and shared with students by email, like grades, contact information and so on. An advantage of a CMS is that you can track your personal progress a little easier because not everything is public information. Also the class wiki site could be altered by students or information possibly lost. 2. I needed to develop more evaluation rubrics - some for peer evaluation and map out how that would work a little more clearly. 3. I think 3 general synchronous class meetings would be helpful to clear up questions and demonstrate how to use technologies for those who need a visual example and the opportunity to ask questions in the learning process. (I only developed an example of the first meeting). These would be required (points given for attendance) but recorded for those who miss for unavoidable reasons.

    Great job Christine Here are my comments: Nice embedded asynchronous CMC; nice use of an introductions section (good for online classes); also uses wiki's and facebook. Perhaps student interaction could benefit from Skype or synchronous CMC based support. Excellent resources, and one of the stronger elements of the unit! Built-in search, embedded CMC and a variety of programs (listed above) all culminate to provide wonderful learner resources. A nice variety of collaboration with discussions and use of the three different programs listed above. A nice variety of meaningful assignments without exposing learners to too much in too little time. Good. As noted above three different platforms as well as discussion to publish on. Wiki and Diigo providing lasting published work and facebook providing more transitory puiblishing appeals to a wide range of learners. Nice self and peer assessment lending itself to connectivist ideals. Though I do love wetpaint Wiki the ads on the site can be less than desirable (they keep adding more). I suggest Google Sites for the same easy navigation and embedding but no ads. That said nice and easy to navigate page

      1) Group participation in assignment #1 In the first assignment, students work in groups to accomplish the task of the informal portrait on location. Students take turns at all three positions within the group; collaboration among the participants utilizing the technology in the required ways is key to success. The finished output (assessment) using technology applications to assemble and organize products is the students objective in a connectivism way. Group critiques is implemented in the final presentation 2) Self- assessment on assignment #2 The second assignment takes the student in areas of technology few have experienced. Selecting and navigating advance options with digital photographic devices is the key component all the while they are working with a model to produce an original work of art. The self-assessment comes in the form of judging themselves and their work against their piers in an online network environment. Viewing and commenting on piers work gives the student information about their interpretation of the assignment and the requirements. Not only does the student judge themselves using technology delivery devices but they also realize portions that could have been considered to make the out come different 3) Group collaboration in assignment #3 Assignment #3 in this unit is designed for the group to collaborate using technology to connect their camera directly to their computer for tether shooting. This concept is difficult in the since that not every camera manufacturer is equal when completing this task. Much cognitive and collaborative energy must be performed to make this happen. Group problem solving and research is required to navigate the technology. In addition the assignment requires cooperation and a shared viewpoint to again, collaborate on artistic values and technical operations in the still life studio. Students produce original works of art working together but each takes the lead for their own slant on the theme. Assessmen

      Taking traditional photography to 21 century teaching techniques is a challenge to say the least but the two have great merit. The two have had great changes thrust upon them in recent years due to technology, so it only makes sense that developing curriculums centered on technology would be logical. Having said this the actual design must be well considered. Sometimes I feel jumping to fast just to make it first out of the gate may not be wise. Don't get me wrong, I am gun-ho for implementing curriculum reform especially in the area of photography but I don't what to make changes to values that are just as strong now as they were 20 years ago when I started this business. In my Unit design, I feel strong and necessary changes have been made over the past year. Not just in this class but taking resources from other classes I have experienced through my graduate studies. Sure more improvements are necessary. I remember one statement from a video I saw earlier in the semester mentioned "Leadership involves constantly re-thinking." This is how I see teaching, constantly re-thinking or re-inventing the wheel to bring better meaning and continuity to the subject. My Unit is strong no doubt. Room for improvement, you bet. If I had one area to revisit (and I do), it would be in instructional strategies relating to the third assignment. I would like to have evidence of group research for the themes of the subject. I feel this is where the groups slipped a little. They did not have concrete ideas for subject and composition. Although some groups did, I believe the groups that failed here, learned from their failures and became better for it. Again, I think we as teachers may place too much emphasis on succeeding in the form of getting it right the first time and not enough from learning from failure. I may have the groups submit a proposal outlining their intent for the project before executing it.
