at least we're better off than the folks in Germany, where the country's official provider, T-Mobile, wants to ban use of the Skype app on both its 3G network and its extensive Wi-Fi hot spot network. Not only has T-Mobile said that the use of Skype is forbidden, but it's also declared its intent to cancel the contracts of any users who use workarounds to run the program anyway. The company's reasoning is that the program's high data use would choke the network infrastructure and that it violates the customer contract, prohibiting VoIP--a clause apparently used by all other German mobile service providers as well.

"We have talked about the photo enhancement Universal app SnapSeed before. The free photo tuning app offers the features of the higher end photo editing apps with a nice finger interface. Import a image, choose what you want to do to the image, move your finger up/down to choose which tool to use, then a left/right swipe to adjust the amount of the effect to apply. They have many adds, require in app purchases to be useful, or are just junk. I tend to stay away from most free apps. So what are you to do if the district controls adding paid apps? My suggestion is to build relationships with the decision makers. Don't just ask for a bunch of apps, instead provide documentation and purpose for a few apps you would like to have. I know this process takes time and effort but if you can show the purpose and learning you have a much better chance. If you need lesson ideas I suggest checking out my Pinterest page, and three of my favorite Pinterest pages: iPadsammy, TechChef4u, and Sue Gorman. Look for apps and lesson ideas there and modify them to fit your standards and kids. If I was starting from scratch this is the $10 iPad app setup I would push for in my kindergarten classroom.
