I hope some of you will take a look at the tags-- I had to make them shorter than I use in delicious b/c of how they show up on the screen. Just testing this - we need to get these tags settled pretty quickly before they get into wide use.

am a little confused - do you mean the bookmark tags? or the topic tags?

May be overkill, but could we set up a wiki that shows the 'full name' and then the abbreviated tag next to it? That might help w/ consistency, not only in this group, but others as well?

Left column: full name of topic/tag
    right column: tag itself

    ie

Vicki, I am probably being a bit thick here, but I cannot find the standard tags, unless they are the ones that show up in the right hand column under related tags when you click on:

    http://groups.diigo.com/educators/bookmark/tag/bestpractices

including the tag 'bestpractices' of course. Do I understand this right, please?

Also, please confirm for a newbie like myself. The idea is to use these tags with any others as appropriate. These are just tags that were set up at the start of the group to make life easy, helful and fruitful for us all as we share, right?

Sorry to be obtuse or confusing if that is how it looks, but I don't want to share too much until I know what is what.

Thanks for setting up the group by the way. I was thinking today that educators can be a real power for good in the world.

When you click "send to group" a list of 16 tags pop up -- these are from the tag dictionary -- each time you send to the group, you should select at least 2-3 of those.

It lets you do this. http://groups.diigo.com/educators/bookmark/tag/professionaldevelopment
    and http://groups.diigo.com/educators/bookmark/tag/edu_news

    Does this make more sense?

Oh, and we only get 16!
