Not just for Architects!

The table contains all the usual information you find in a periodic table of elements, but then under each element, it lists real-world items that contain that element. This opens up a new avenue of projects for Science teachers where students can not only learn the different elements, but then connect them to real world uses and even explore the method in which the element is applied. For example, assigning a student to report on radon, they'll see it's a key element in earthquake predictors.

This posting will focus on the art of searching using the basic Google search engine. I have tried to include the obvious and the not so obvious techniques. As you look through, I am almost certain you will learn something new.

You might find something of interest to you here! When I first set out to create this site, I wanted it, above anything else, to be something practical. I wanted it to be something real teachers could use. I want to offer support to new teachers who were hired the day before school started, and were talked into taking two extra preps, and have gang problems inside their classrooms. And I want it to be a place where you could find like-minded colleagues who are dedicated to improving our society through education, as hard as the reality of that may be for those of us in the classroom.

The purpose of this resource is to provide "Just in Time" training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should possess. In the process, educators will develop their own skills and discover what students need in order to meet the NETS for Students, as well as the new MMC Online Experience requirement. Microsoft Mouse Mischief is a free software download for PCs that integrates into Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and 2010 to allow educators to insert questions, polls, and drawing activity slides into lessons for participation for up to 25 students.

Einztein is a new service for locating online collegiate level courses and corresponding materials. Einztein isn't your standard search engine as all courses listed by Einztein are reviewed by a PhD level editorial team. Each course listed by Einztein comes with a listing of the types of materials available for each course. Some courses have audio, video, and documents while other course may only have one or two of those elements. Visitors to Einztein can search for course by keyword or simply browse courses by subject area.

Grammaropolis is a fresh, fun, and exciting new way to learn about the parts of speech. When students associate human qualities and characteristics with the parts of speech, abstract and seemingly arbitrary grammatical rules start to make a lot more sense.
