Funny how to. But is probably offensive to people who choose to dress like this and how we now imitate it almost like mockery.

I found this article very interesting because I did travel to Tokyo, Japan and see plenty of these Tokyo Rockabillies wandering about. The culture on the other side of the world is way more abstract than I expected. You have the well dressed business types and then standing next to them are the anime lovers and, of course, the Rockabillies. Nice post!
  •
    definitely some interesting subcultures
  •
I thought these were all very interesting. The Gyaru subculture to me was the most interesting and made me think of people in America who go to extremes to look pretty but I have never heard of anything that drastic. I think its interesting how America cares so much about photoshopping people to look different while these girls are pretty much "photoshopping" themselves.

So many subcultures that I've never even heard of. My favorite to read about were the Elevator Enthusiasts, such a simple and random thing can be a subculture.
  •
It was interesting to see these less known subcultures, some seem pretty out there.

NEW HAVEN THE March 3 death of Bailey O'Neill, a 12-year-old boy in Darby Township, Pa., was widely attributed to bullying, based on allegations that a classmate hit the boy in the face in January. He suffered a concussion, his family said, and eventually seizures.

The Reinvention of Taylor Swift - 8 views

  •
Taylor Swift is a mainstream artist but her daily life is anything but mainstream. When walking down the street she is just as unusual and different as someone with a cat on their head.

I thought this was a very interesting article. It makes you remember that famous people aren't always who we see on t.v, they can also be included in different subcultures
  •
This is such a great article about how life as a celebrity isn't always what is cracked up to be and that they regular people that want to enjoy life like everybody else.
  •
I think a great part of this article was the reference to the difference between the paparazzi in New York vs. Hollywood. Swift said that she like the paparazzi in NY better because they were more relaxed and less in your face that those of Hollywood. It paints a picture that shows that what everyone thinks is normal about celebs vs paparazzi is not really true at all outside of Hollywood.
  •
The way Taylor swift is portrayed from someone who doesn't follow her at all stems completely different to what her actual life is, it was a very informative article for me and changed my opinion of the way celebrities act when they aren't in front of the camera

I really liked how this link dug into the reasons why people become Goths and told more about their culture.
  •
I also liked how this website explained what a Goth really is. Interesting link!
  •
I really liked the descriptions of a Goth culture and the quotations by Goths.

"The mentality is, 'I want to be left alone but I want to be seen. I want to see the shock on other peoples' faces." -- that sounds remarkably similar to the pose of "confident alienation" mentioned as part of the results from the Gross study cited by Hine.

This is an old story but I never heard of it until doing research so I think it's worth pointing out to people. It's just horrific that a girl got murdered for being different.
