This doesn't specifically have to do with segment 4 but I came across it and was surprised there was a Rhetorical Society of America and that they have a conference every year that deals with rhetoric and learning more about the different kinds of rhetoric.

This is a letter to Brittany Maynard from another cancer patient. The exigence the rhetor, Kara Tippets' is responding to, is the story of Brittany Maynard. This article is very kairotic because Kara is writing this letter right in time for Brittany Maynard and the world to read it before Brittany makes her decision to die. Kara also persuades using ethos by telling her story and showing that she is also suffering and pathos to make the reader feel hopeful. I loved this article.

Brittany Maynard says she will commit suicide under Oregon's Death With Dignity Act on Nov. 1, one day after her husband's birthday, at home in bed to escape the burden of her terminal brain cancer. Her story is trying to inform people of the Death with Dignity Act and trying to get people to support this Act. There is definite pathos to try and get the reader to feel bad for her.

But what you don't know is how to make sure you don't accidentally buy from one. This article is definitely trying to persuade you to make sure that you are not buying from Puppy Mills and it uses pathos to sort of scare the reader into not getting a puppy if it is from one of these situations and people already sort of feel something from the mention of puppy mills because they are not looked at as good things in our society because of the mistreatment of the animals.

In response to a Tumblr post Taylor Swift wore a No Its Becky shirt that she made to make a point. This is Rhetoric because it was definitely planned and definitely responsive and asks for a response. When Taylor Swift made this shirt and wore it in New York City she would have known that she would get a response.
