Some studies show that listening to music improves cognitive performance and focus. Certain rhythms and beats can cause shifts in emotion, which can ultimately affect the way that we comprehend things we read. In one of their studies, a controlled group of students studied with music that caused them to feel anxiety while another listened to music that evoked concentration. They also allowed a certain controlled group to listen to their favorite song and actually performed worse on their tests.

"Music stimulates various parts of the brain, making it an effective therapeutic or mood-altering tool." I totally agree with that statement and it is also said that 80% of students do homework and study while listening to music. I find that slower pace songs don't distract people as much as fast paced and up-beat songs do.

It is said that music is used in studying more often in college because it helps calm and relieve stress. College students use music the most because it's more difficult to stay on task and focused in a different surrounding.

Based on past experiments and research of music affecting one's reading comprehension, it shows that students listening to lyrical music during an exam scored lower than students listening to instrumental songs. (Which proves my hypothesis of this experiment that I will be performing myself.)

New and unexpected acronyms are taking over our texting universe. "Any idea what 'IWSN' stands for in Internet slang? It's a declarative statement: I want sex now." I honestly didn't know what "IWSN" stood for and it's surprising to see that teenagers are actually using these acronyms as secret codes for illegal/inappropriate actions.

Although this url may seem absurd to be talking about 7 rules of texting, it is sadly very true. It's crazy how words/texting can change one's mood in an instant depending on punctuation and length of a certain text. Just like in the movie Catfish, I realized that many people get tricked into online relationships because of certain texting strategies that lure people in. Short, sweet, and to the point messages can easily hook someone's attention.

I'm surprised by how much texting and "fingered speech" has evolved throughout the years. "lol" doesn't literally mean "laugh out loud" anymore. In a way, it just evokes more empathy of a certain topic. Just like in the Japanese language, "ね"at the end of a sentence adds emphasis on the subject.
