The Next Generation Science Standards are being developed in collaboration with NSTA. These standards will form the backbone of the Common Core Standards in Science within the next year of so. Interesting. They are worth digesting.

It's rather embarrassing that we still have a macroscopic chunk of something as the standard kilogram. The other fundamental units are defined in terms of atomic processes, but for mass we have a macro standard and an atomic standard. Scandalous! (I'm sure when the Higgs boson is found that everything will sort itself out.)

GA is part of a 20 state initiative being sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences and Achieve. This initiative will rewrite science standards for the 21st Century. Check out my blog post on the initiative.
