The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives now has an "enhanced" registration for teachers and classes that lets you use their structured lessons with the manipulatives, use saved lessons from other teachers, or edit or create your own lessons using their manipulatives. Students log in, and their work is saved for teachers to view! Lessons available (as manipulatives are also) range from K-12 (precalculus and trig are the highest level topics listed)

This Video Podcast explores SMARTBoard teaching techniques to 6-12 Math Teachers. Each episode lasts from 10-20 minutes. Our emphasis and purpose is to create lessons that are engaging for students. The lessons we will present will focus on getting students up to the smartboard and out of their desks. We will be covering template lessons that the viewer will be able to download off our website. Although we will be focusing on Math topics, most lessons can be applied to any subject.

Last week one of my colleagues asked if I knew of "any good websites" for space science lessons. I said of course I did and gave the suggestion to turn on the moon view in Google Earth. This post was prompted by that 90 second conversation. Here are eight (for the eight planets) good resources for space science lessons.

TrackStar is your starting point for online lessons and activities. Simply collect Web sites, enter them into TrackStar, add annotations for your students, and you have an interactive, online lesson called a Track. Create your own Track or use one of the hundreds of thousands already made by other educators. Search the database by subject, grade, or theme and standard for a quick and easy activity. There is a fun Track already made for each day of the year, too!

Expand the universe of your students' math knowledge with this collection of lessons and activities. Math texts don't usually dedicate very much coverage for fractals and graph theory, yet these topics are some of the most timely. Students need to see that mathematical study goes beyond Arithmetic, Algebra, and Geometry. Mathematics includes a wide range of investigations into topics that are utilized in the real world. These lessons should give students a basic understanding of these advanced concepts that they can carry with them to college.

BrainPOP Jr. provides educational movies and homework help for K-3 students. Each animated movie has quizzes, games, vocabulary, and activities for kids. BrainPOP Jr. is a great resource for teachers and homeschools, offering lesson plans and lesson ideas that develop critical thinking and inquiry skills.
